40 years old. Due 25th September. Still no labour signs

Older mom here too 😀 honestly if you have a healthy pregnancy, your age only is not enough to rush things. Keep being monitored with water level and placenta quality and keep waiting. A pregnancy is not 40 weeks tops. A term baby could come anytime between 37 and 42 weeks (sometimes even a bit later). My first baby was born when I was 36 years old at 41 weeks. Let's see when this second baby will come bit nothing will be rushed unless a health issue shows up. All the best for you and your baby 🤗

I had an induction with my first baby at 40+1 weeks. I was 40. My doctor explained that the placenta can stop working as effectively in older moms later in the pregnancy. I was having testing and ultrasounds twice a week. In the end, I decide to move forward with an induction. I felt like something could happen between the screenings. I wasn’t willing to take that risk. I know there is a lot of negativity about inductions. I had zero signs of labor before I had mine. I had no complications and had a vaginal birth. I know it’s hard to know what the right decision is. Think hard about it and trust your instincts.

It is not uncommon at all to go over 40w for your first pregnancy. I was only 27 when I had my first & had to fight to keep from being induced, but the doctor made me feel awful so I gave in at 41w. My 2nd pregnancy was at 39, but he really did need to be induced at 37w, he was IUGR & my placenta was tiny & failing & we’d been watching it closely since 18w, my OB even scheduled several appointments so I didn’t have to be induced at 36w & miss my older son’s 12th birthday, if it had been a healthy pregnancy he would’ve never insisted I be induced, he’s not one of those doctors, he tried really hard to stick to my birthing plan. Idk why some act as though having babies 35-45yo is a new thing, when the only real new thing about it is that some of us are purposely waiting until then to have our first or second baby, no one bats an eye when women w/large families don’t stop until menopause, why should it be any different for us.🤷🏻‍♀️
