People in my life act as though as I'm not doing enough as a mother and wife or that I'm putting too much on my husband. I'm a SAHM and my husband works full time and we have two kids. He either does our grocery shopping alone, takes one of our kids, or we all go together as a family. If just one of our kids have a doctor appointment he will take them on his own and I'll stay home with the other kid. He does laundry, he picks up rooms, he vacuums, he wipes things down, he does dishes, he cooks, and I do these things as well. He plays with our kids, teaches them, does bath time, does bedtime routines, and so do I.
I'm frequently finding people feel bad for my husband when they hear about all that he does. Most of the time it's women telling me they feel bad for him and giving me unsolicited advice on what I can do to make life easier for him. Am I truly not doing enough in my role or is this an issue of gender roles and stereotypes? Or possibly even jealousy?

It’s funny to me how some people are dumbfounded at the sight of husbands/fathers doing things other than just having jobs.
Like no way the father of my children is actually taking care of them 🤯🤯

lol some women and jus ppl in general can be every exhausting. please stop listening to those male centered or male identified women lol cuz what ur Husband is doing is exactly what he should be doing. We are blessed to have husbands who carry their weight and responsibilities in the relationship. Ur Husband is actually being a PARTNER and so are u. It’s very equally balanced in my humble opinion. The patriachy & misogyny from this society has men doing the bare minimum & then then getting praised for it or as u stated in this post some ppl actually feel bad for them. lol idk why feel bad for a man doing his role well especially roles that he signed up for. He is being a father &Husband & women are blaming u or making u feel guilty for not doing enough? make it make sense.
As woman we go thru so much having these kids & no one feels bad for us. They try minimize what we do; we literally create life & something that can kill us! We give our bodies so trust me u have done enough my dear

Gosh I feel your frustration. I get this from my family too especially my mom.
My husband is the main cook at home and we pretty much share every other responsibility. Except admin usually falls on me because I'm more organised and naturally take this responsibility.
But wow, the praise and pity that he gets as if it's not his responsibility is amazing. 😂 my mom acts like he is doing me the world of a favour by caring for his family.
He is a wonderful partner and father, and I feel very blessed, especially when I compare to some of the dickheads I read about here on peanut. But fuck man

That's actually a normal way to do things in a family where both adults are responsible grown ups. We have the same dynamic here. Honestly women thinking that being a slave for their family is normal are very much conditionned by patriarchy to think this way... Let them be and keep thriving in a functional family style 🤗

Well it depends, is his job physically intensive and are they long hours? If he comes home super exhausted and still has to cook, bath and put kids to bed, then yes I feel bad for him. But if he’s sitting down behind a desk in an AC environment and chatting with coworkers about nonsense all day, then no I wouldn’t feel bad for him. So in my opinion, it would depend on what type of job he does for work.

I feel like a horrible mom, because I know I should take my 20 month old girl out almost everyday but I don’t feel like it at all. Firstly I work night shifts ( 4 nights in a week, some 3 nights back to back, 1 day off and the last night).
when I come back home i only get 2 hours sleep and I have to look after her because she hasn’t started nursery, make food and so on. My partner is just annoying and doesn’t help even when he’s currently not working right now. I still have to do everything for her.. and then I’m so tired and don’t feel like going out for a walk or any play gym.
I don’t know but I feel like I’m doing a bad job and not being a good mom at all.

Feeling at a loss. Baby is nearly 7 months and we started weaning at 5.5 months as he gave all the signs. It hasn’t gone well at all and he still is hardly eating any meals unless it’s the pouches (which I don’t want to give him). I’ve also started giving him breakfast in the form of porridge or Weetabix and he just screams in his chair. I don’t know what to do as it just ends in tears for both of us!

Hi ladies, I'm looking for some advice. I've tried breathing exercises, tea, loooong walks (I think that's what has helped me the most), I go to the gym whenever I can (2 or 3 times a week), and still I feel like I'm doing it all wrong.
I'm feeling extremely guilty for everything I do, everything I'm not doing, I feel like a terrible mom but I know objectively I'm not. Also I get frustrated so easily, my baby is almost 10mo and teething, and he's not sleeping good, I know nothing is his fault, he's a perfect cute little baby, but I can't help to get frustrated and I just want to cry and pull my hair out.
Sorry for the long rant, I just feel very lonely and have no one who could possibly understand what I'm going through. If you have any advice, or kind words I'm very grateful and happy to read you!

I am looking to start work and I’m not sure which childcare option would work best for my one year old. very clingy at the moment and find it difficult to socialise, so I’m wondering whether a nursery or childminder might be better. I would really appreciate hearing from other parents who have been in a similar situation. What worked best for your little one, and how did they settle?
Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated!

How would you navigate my situation?
My brother (and only sibling) wants to fly in from overseas to visit for Christmas, but with my due date being late November, I have some anxiety around a few things.
1. He’s a heavy smoker and even if I ask him not to smoke before he sees baby, he still smells like it. I don’t want our newborn baby smelling or inhaling any of that off his clothing.
2. It’s just awkward - I’m uncomfortable with him staying with us, and my husband and I will restrict guests over Christmas to 30-45 minute visits. It’s really not worth him flying across the world to see us for 30 mins a day, if that.
We don’t plan to restrict our extended family completely, at the same time no one else we know is a heavy smoker and since they live here it won’t matter if they only pop by for a short period of time. My mum is flying in to stay with us to support us postpartum for 1 month.
How is everyone planning to go about Christmas and holiday season? Especially if you have family overseas?
