Is this safe? Nursery (uk)

My son has recently started nursery and their outdoor play area is just wooden pallete and planks of wood and tires to climb on.
They have some bits built up to climb on but just planks and pallets balancing on tires, nothing professionally built or put together properly and it goes quite high (5ft) without any barrier or anything to hold onto.
I think they're trying to lean into risky play and allowing the kids to be independent but they don't have any normal play structures..

Maybe I worry too much but my son isn't very agile. I also worry about splinters and possible nails? I know they've probably checked over the wood but I can't be sure.

No, I wouldn't say that's ok at all. How old is your son? My daughters nursery has an amazing outdoor play area. Sheds with different role-playing, massive sand pit, assault course, and bikes to ride on, theirs also other areas for imaginative play in the outdoor area

Do nursery’s out in the uk not get inspected by whatever governing bodies exist before being allowed to continue running?

I don’t think it sounds entirely unsafe but I also dunno what it actually looks like.

They will of risk assessed the entire garden area of the nursery and will likely carry out safety checks every single morning before use of the garden.

I would be against safe guarding, health and safety and EYFS regulations to not have these safety precautions in place.

Do they have any other areas for outdoor play? It sounds strange their only outdoor area is just that and no open spaces for bikes/ride on toys or space to put activities out. It’s hard deeming it completely unsafe without seeing it?

I would say theyve most probably risk assessed it but maybe just keep an eye on it for the moment. They could be waiting for funding to completely redo the garden. Could also ask them for the risk assessment or express your issues with it to them and let them give you a response on how you feel about it and how they can ease your mind on it

My son's nursery had tires, wood etc which they used for building walkways, it was a team work exercise (they were however in pre school) they used to be so excited to show all the parents at home time what they'd all worked on and how you got round the path / frame they'd built.
It wasn't under cover or kept away but they had strict instructions not to touch unless allowed and supervised.

Could it be something like that?

Would appreciate some opinions on this nursery situation.

Was I rude ? Or was the nursery staff member rude?

My 3-year-old came home from nursery on Friday with a red bump behind her ear. When I asked what happened, she told me that another boy hit her with a toy car and also hit her on her back.

I messaged the nursery and said:

“Also just wanted to say that when my daughter came home from nursery on Friday, I noticed she had a bump behind her ear and was red. I asked her what happened, and she said another boy hit her with a toy car and also hit her on her back.

I appreciate that children can have accidents in nursery and it’s impossible to eliminate everything, but I was concerned as it was on her head.

I would also appreciate if you could supervise their interactions a little more closely, particularly given the previous concerns we discussed about my daughter feeling uncomfortable around the same child and the child being rough with her before the summer break.

I know children will have disagreements and accidents, but would like to make sure my daughter feels safe and that any incidents are picked up and communicated to me.”

The teacher replied:

“OK mum I was with her for most of the day on Friday and not once did her and the other child be near each other.”

How would you interpret the nursery’s response? Do you think the teacher is simply saying that she personally didn’t witness them together, or does it come across as dismissing what my daughter told me? And was my original message reasonable, or did I come across as accusing the nursery/child?

How much does partner help you

If you’re a stay at home mom or wife whose kids are in school all day what do you expect husband/partner to
help with if anything? My husband works a lot with his job so I don’t want to be ungrateful but I am genuinely curious to see how spouses break up responsibilities in the household. All my kids are currently in school. I do have a job at night but it’s part time and very easy so it’s not burning me out and I do get to sleep as it’s home health but during the day I mostly have time to myself.

Disney mamas? 🐭✨

I’d love to find a Disney bestie to take our little ones on rides with! 🥰 I have a 3 year old daughter and a 13 month old son! We go at least once a week, usually on weekends. If you’re a Disney mama too, I’d love to meet up! 💕

Is he joking

So I’ve come downstairs from settling our LO to sleep and start talking about putting in an extra nap during the day and moving bedtime later as LO has been foul the last 3 nights…… please tell me why my other half starts talking about his grass and I let him know I’m not interested and I don’t care so he asks why and I said I have more pressing stuff going on that takes priority over admiring the grass and the audacity of this man he comes out with “it’s not that hard” and I say what and he says “being a mother”………. I nearly hit the roof, not once in 15 weeks has this man settled our LO at night time and he’s done 2 just 2 midnight feeds and woke me during them…… I would love for this man to try “being the mother” and then tell me it’s not hard…… I genuinely feel like a single parent with a partner 😮‍💨

What's the problem? 🤨

People in my life act as though as I'm not doing enough as a mother and wife or that I'm putting too much on my husband. I'm a SAHM and my husband works full time and we have two kids. He either does our grocery shopping alone, takes one of our kids, or we all go together as a family. If just one of our kids have a doctor appointment he will take them on his own and I'll stay home with the other kid. He does laundry, he picks up rooms, he vacuums, he wipes things down, he does dishes, he cooks, and I do these things as well. He plays with our kids, teaches them, does bath time, does bedtime routines, and so do I.

I'm frequently finding people feel bad for my husband when they hear about all that he does. Most of the time it's women telling me they feel bad for him and giving me unsolicited advice on what I can do to make life easier for him. Am I truly not doing enough in my role or is this an issue of gender roles and stereotypes? Or possibly even jealousy?
