NAPS (again)

I asked the other day how many of you have dropped to 1 nap already, everywhere is saying 11 months is too young but my god daytime sleep is a battle at the minute. How did you know it was time to drop one?

For the last week and a bit she has refused every single morning nap, then passes out about mid day for an hour. Because of this I have been doing bedtime around 5:30/6 instead of 7 and for the most part she will sleep until 6:30am.

The thing is she seems exhausted all day doing this, but I cannot get her to sleep any earlier and by the time she wakes up it's too late to fit in another nap before bedtime because she's not got enough sleep pressure at her normal bed time.

I know there's a sleep regression around this age, she also seems to be getting some more teeth, and is trying so hard to walk so is this her needing to change her wake windows and drop to a single nap or is it just temporary because of one of the above reasons - and how do you know which it is?

Move the first nap later gradually then you will eventually be able to drop the second nap as the first one gets later.

It’s so hard to know. At home my LO sleeps 2 full naps, but at nursery, they say she refuses and will only do 1?!! She’s v aggy before bedtime now, but we’re kinda rolling with it, pulling forward bedtime if she really can’t wait until 7pm🤷🏻‍♀️ So we’re doing 2 naps at home & 1 nap at nursery.
I didn’t think she was ready to drop down from 3 to 2, but it was getting to 8/9 months, so I just did it and she adapted.
Every baby is different, some may be fine to drop earlier. As my LO shows, babies can also be different each day, leaving us guessing.

My LO is attempting one nap some days we go back to two. I normally offer their normal one if they are upset otherwise we go out and run around to exhaust them and they go down around 11 for 2 hours. But mine seems exhausted too rubbing eyes etc has been yawning since 7am and has not wanted to go down and I dont want to battle as its just doesnt work. I honestly just go day by day. Also if they are exhausted but don't want to sleep we go for a walk to calm them down which works. My LO is also teething and struggling with that

Our 11 month only has one, has done for a couple months. We just let him lead it and its naturally fallen into a pretty consistent one nap at the same time everyday

We are on one nap simply because I can’t fit the second one in with collecting my older child from school 🥲

Mine is on 2 but is super restless throughout the night, tried dropping her to one nap for two days and she was absolutely exhausted so we went back to 2... sleep is really hard at the moment 😭

We do 2 naps. But a late one. Usually he wakes up at 8-8:30. Get a nap at 12 and the next at 3:30-4. He will sleep at 9-10. You dont meed to follow the 7-7 sleep time routine and your LO might would enjoy later sleeps during the day.

My 11 month old has recently only dropped to 1 per day (a 1 hr morning nap)

My boy has 2 naps 1 30-45 mins about 11am then a long 1.5-2 hours at 3pm

We’re just swapping to one nap now. Tried everything to get her night sleep better so far the two nights she’s slept through have been one nap. Really hoping it’s not just a fluke🤣

I know she can tell that it's unusual

So my husband has to go away for work, he's been away from Tuesday and will be back Friday night. I am at home with our three months old daughter, well it's going ok we both getting through, I had a phone call with my husband, her dad, last night and I think she was a little whingey because she could hear him but he obviously wasn't there, well she woke up at four ish for a feed and then when I placed her back in the cot after she fell asleep she was up again, yawning wanting sleep but not going, well I picked her up for a cuddle instantly she was asleep, same happened at seven ISH feed time, is this because she knows he's not there and needs extra comfort or am I reading into this because I got another week of my husband being away and I don't like because of her age but we can't do anything about it.

Nursery help please!!!!

I’m due to return to work from maternity leave in January 2027 and I’m DREADING IT, he’ll be 1. I just feel so bad for him, I have such a clingy baby and I think he’s going to think I’ve abandoned him 😭 we co-sleep, is exclusively breastfed (won’t take a bottle / dummy but will sometimes have small amounts of pumped milk in a cup with straw) and I’m the only one who can put him down for naps (fed to sleep) and then I roll away. Not even his dad can put him to sleep (he falls asleep with rocking but wakes the moment he touched the mattress when transferred).

I’ve never spent more than 2 hours away from him (2-3 times). We don’t have any family or friends who can look after the baby to even practice him being away from us.

In an ideal world I would wait for him to go to nursery when he is able to talk and understand that I’m not leaving him forever and I’ll be coming back, the thought of it breaks me!

I’m already struggling with mental health (post natal depression and anxiety). I’m considering taking a career break (if my work will let me), or staying off sick for a few months or paying back my enhanced maternity pay (£9000) and leaving the company! Money will be very tight but this could work for around 6 months.

I don’t know what to do, any suggestions or experience would be appreciated!

Thanks xxx

How much is your baby eating?

I feel so stressed when I see these TikTok’s of peoples babies eating huge bottles like 7-8oz per feeding and my LO is barely eating 4oz MAYBE 5. He is combo fed but whether it’s formula or breastmilk he won’t go past 5oz. His pediatrician is happy with his weight gain and he sleeps pretty decent at night, but I can’t help but wonder why he doesn’t eat as much as other babies 😅 (he’s 5 months btw)

Co-Sleeping

Anybody been co-sleeping at night? I’ve started letting my little one sleep in the bed with us after the early morning feed around 4/5am till 8when she wakes up for the day.

Any tips or experiences?

Keeping Baby Entertained

How are we all keeping our baby’s entertained? My girlie’s wake windows are sometimes up to 2 hours now, and I’m out of things to do😭😂

We practice tummy time, stretches to encourage rolling, reading, singing nursery rhymes, etc. But she only ever lasts a few minutes before getting frustrated, she must think I’m boring😂😂

Ps she also hates her pram so walks aren’t really an option unless she’s in her carrier, but if she’s not tired she gets mad in there too😂
