My mom died a month ago. She was a huge part of my life, and was there for me every time I needed her without question. She died unexpectedly from a stroke, and since then I feel like I'm in a life I don't recognize.
I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I see a life without the person who loved me most. And now my kids get this shell of a person as their mom. I feel no joy, i cry and I'm angry. The kind of mom no one really cries over. Nothing like my own.
If you've been through this please tell me it gets easier. That one day you wake up not wanting to just go back to sleep.

Unfortunately that hole will always be there, but it will just get gradually easier to adjust, I know that doesn’t help right now but I promise you just need time x

My mom died July of 2025 a few days after my sons birthday of a stroke, but she also had other health problems, but for a long time, I wondered if there was something I could’ve done and I felt guilty that I should’ve done something but as time went on, it did get easier to deal with my kids and I have special days that we celebrate her. My kids have memorial blankets I still have days and times where it is hard because she doesn’t get to be a part of things anymore, but I did find it got easier. I still am a little jealous of my husband who still has his.

Im so sorry for your loss. Loss and grief can be so hard to navigate when the world keeps turning and you want it to stop. When you just want to cry and scream until you cant anymore. Some days will always be harder than others. I recommend looking into grief counseling, lean on others around you for help on days that seem impossible. Give yourself grace during this time and let yourself feel what you need to. 💕

I only slightly understand you. My mother passed away last year from a semi-truck accident. I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby… The numbing feeling never seems to go away. I cry for her when I’m too stressed. I get angry at the fact that everyone gets to enjoy my handsome son’s life, but her because of an ignorant driver… A mother mothering without her mother is one of the hardest things in parenting seems like… So to have that stripped away from you… and your children are possibly too young to understand… That’s heartbreaking… I’m sorry for your lost hun… I don’t have any advice or any pick me up words to say… With events like these… only time can heal❤️ I’m here if you need to rant, or break down ! A listening ear is always helpful in these situations ❤️

My heart goes out to you. 💓 It’s so hard to lose a mom, especially when you are so close. You never truly get over a loss like this. She will always be on your mind. Whenever you achieve something big or face a difficult hardship, you will find yourself wishing she was right there with you.
The only true comfort I can offer is that the sharp pain does get a little softer with time. Eventually, the sadness will give way to all the beautiful, good memories you shared together. God created us with the ability to heal over time, and that is what helps us survive this kind of grief.
I hope this hardship gets easier for you soon so you can find your footing again for your children. Please try to talk with friends, lean on your close ones, and keep yourself gently busy.

OMG GIRL!! Ive been in your shoes. Kinda. Me and my husband got divorced when my daughter were 2 and 5.5. I did not want the divorce at all I was absolutely destroyed. He requested that the only time we talk is when it comes to the kids. We were together 12.5 years. From going from being with him everyday for 12.5 years to almost completely no contact. That loss changed me. I felt like I was just surviving. Living til I could sleep again because thats the only time I could get some peace and completely feel nothing. My daughtrrs saved my life more that a few times. Because before they were born I lost both of my parents. So I truly felt completely alone. If im being honest. The only thing that got me thru was a good pysch dr, ECT, and the right combo of meds, a therapist. These are mandatory in my opinion. It gets easier technically. Therapy teaches you how to cope. Definitely try DBT therapy.

Be gentle with yourself and don't rush through the grieving process. It hurts because she was so special to you, and it's pretty amazing to have experienced that relationship.
My mom died 6 years ago unexpectedly, before my kids were born. It still hits randomly but it's easier to manage the feelings now.

I lost my mom unexpectedly in 2018 from a blood clot and she was my main support with my oldest and at the time I was a single mom. She was also a huge part of my life, and the person that knew me best. There is light at the end of the tunnel but you’re always going to miss her because she was your one and only mom. Time does make it a little better but there will always be certain times during the year you’re going to miss her more. what has helped me, is writing journals and addressing them to her telling her anything that I would’ve told her if she was sitting in front of me. I also send up lanterns for her on special occasions, like birthdays, New Year’s Eve, Christmas,. I write a special message to her and send it up to heaven. talking about her and living on in her memory makes it so much easier. Counseling and learning, how to grieve has also helped me go through this loss and just knowing that I can hold tight to all of her memories, looking at her picture with my children.

Grief isn’t linear.. It’s messy as hell. Some days you’ll feel like you can handle it, and other days you’ll be lucky if you have 12% in you. Parent loss is one of those losses that never really leaves you. You learn how to live with it, but that doesn’t mean you stop missing them. Some days you’ll be angry that they’re not here to see what you’re becoming or meet the people your kids are becoming. Maybe sometimes you’ll feel guilty for being happy. You’ll laugh, have a good day, make memories, and then it’ll hit you that they aren’t here. The most important thing is that you keep her memory alive. Talk about her. Tell your kids about her. Keep her traditions. Tell the stories, even the ridiculous ones. Let pieces of her live on through you. There is no correct way to grieve <3

I havent been through this, but ive been through grief that felt like id never be the same person again, that id never be happy or smile again and that id never be the same mother for my daughter again. All I can say is time is a great healer. Be gentle with yourself, and lean on any support you can
I’m due to return to work from maternity leave in January 2027 and I’m DREADING IT, he’ll be 1. I just feel so bad for him, I have such a clingy baby and I think he’s going to think I’ve abandoned him 😭 we co-sleep, is exclusively breastfed (won’t take a bottle / dummy but will sometimes have small amounts of pumped milk in a cup with straw) and I’m the only one who can put him down for naps (fed to sleep) and then I roll away. Not even his dad can put him to sleep (he falls asleep with rocking but wakes the moment he touched the mattress when transferred).
I’ve never spent more than 2 hours away from him (2-3 times). We don’t have any family or friends who can look after the baby to even practice him being away from us.
In an ideal world I would wait for him to go to nursery when he is able to talk and understand that I’m not leaving him forever and I’ll be coming back, the thought of it breaks me!
I’m already struggling with mental health (post natal depression and anxiety). I’m considering taking a career break (if my work will let me), or staying off sick for a few months or paying back my enhanced maternity pay (£9000) and leaving the company! Money will be very tight but this could work for around 6 months.
I don’t know what to do, any suggestions or experience would be appreciated!
Thanks xxx

How are we all keeping our baby’s entertained? My girlie’s wake windows are sometimes up to 2 hours now, and I’m out of things to do😭😂
We practice tummy time, stretches to encourage rolling, reading, singing nursery rhymes, etc. But she only ever lasts a few minutes before getting frustrated, she must think I’m boring😂😂
Ps she also hates her pram so walks aren’t really an option unless she’s in her carrier, but if she’s not tired she gets mad in there too😂

I will have exclusively fed my 3 month old breastmilk in 2 weeks time and I think for my mental health I want to combo feed. Does anyone have any tips on this? I currently pump 7 times within 24 hours and would like to reduce that so I can live without having to pump every 3 hours. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Xxx

I asked the other day how many of you have dropped to 1 nap already, everywhere is saying 11 months is too young but my god daytime sleep is a battle at the minute. How did you know it was time to drop one?
For the last week and a bit she has refused every single morning nap, then passes out about mid day for an hour. Because of this I have been doing bedtime around 5:30/6 instead of 7 and for the most part she will sleep until 6:30am.
The thing is she seems exhausted all day doing this, but I cannot get her to sleep any earlier and by the time she wakes up it's too late to fit in another nap before bedtime because she's not got enough sleep pressure at her normal bed time.
I know there's a sleep regression around this age, she also seems to be getting some more teeth, and is trying so hard to walk so is this her needing to change her wake windows and drop to a single nap or is it just temporary because of one of the above reasons - and how do you know which it is?

I'm trying to not go longer than 3 hours inbetween breastfeeds as my baby is not back to birthweight and my boobs are feeling quite engorged.
I'm having such a hard time waking my baby up for feeds and everything I'm reading online is about newborns feeding constantly, mine feels like the opposite?
I've tried changing, stripping down, cold water on belly, ticking feet, blowing, placing on a cold changing mat, talking, moving. It's taking me around 20 minutes to wake.
Surely this isn't normal. I'm worried I won't even make it to 8 feeds today.
