Last time my in laws saw baby, she was super unhappy because she was hungry (The mum kept saying to just give her a dummy) I left the room about 5 times to breastfeed so they hardly saw her.
Last night we visited them & I made sure I even topped up with formula to avoid that situation happening again so they can have some nice cuddles. She had been awake for ages then fell asleep on the 5 min car journey there.
When we got there and put her in their arms…all they both did was complain that she’s sleeping and kept saying “do something” and kept shaking her arms and legs and poking her face and saying “wake up”.
I explained to them to please do NOT wake her as I’ve literally only just got her to sleep 5 mins ago so she will be super unhappy, she will just cry and want boob. Did they listen? No.
She’s a newborn for Christ sake. When she’s awake she doesn’t do much anyways. What do they expect?
The mum then phoned her neighbour and asked if she wanted to come see the baby (didn’t ask me if that was ok, this person is a stranger to me). She came in with her husband and child, all started touching her….they all visibly had a rotten cold !!!
After some time, they admitted they were really ill. I just looked at my partner, hoping he’d say something in that moment.
But I mean, the damage was already done. They’ve all already touched her and got up in her face.
Every time I visit my in laws they do stuff I’m not happy with. Just puts me off seeing them every time.
I can’t mention it to my partner because any time I do, he gets defensive and angry at me🤣

I’m sorry to hear this. It sounds infuriating. It would make me feel extremely out of control. I truly believe that the newborn/ baby’s needs are the priority and the in laws are not being very understanding - you shouldn’t have to worry about their need to cuddle your baby. And you shouldn’t be made to feel that your baby in any way should be awake or entertaining your in laws - your recovery and wellbeing is the priority!
Once they are bigger and robust it will be much easier to have cuddles with grandparents! For now your newborn just needs comfort, sleep and milk.

Sounds like the in-laws (and your partner) could do with a slap 🤷🏼♀️
Everyone has asked me if it’s ok for a cuddle- even my husband will ask my permission for his family to hold her, because he knows I’m a mama bear… 😂
The only person I’ve had to deny is my friend saying to her 7yr old son “you can have a cuddle in a minute” when she was 1 week old… absolutely no way is another child that isn’t mine, holding my baby.
You’ve every right to be annoyed and you aren’t being dramatic.
It annoys me that people think they have a right to touch someone else’s baby.
They can look but don’t touch without permission.

My husband is useless at saying anything. His aunty kissed my baby on the face twice yesterday and I kicked him and he still let me be the one to say something. Bearing in mind my daughter was admitted to hospital for 2 days a week ago due to catching a cold

I’m so sorry you’re going through something like this. My in laws can be really insensitive too, but I’ve made it clear to my husband that babies are our number one priority. If saying no to his family is in the best interest of the kids then that’s what we will do, I don’t care if people don’t like it or agree. If my husband is too concerned about his family’s feelings then he’s not putting the kids first and at that point he loses any ability to make any of the decisions to do with them.
If I were you I’d put my foot down, at the end of the day your baby is suffering, and it’s not fair on them at all. Your in laws need to learn to respect you as a mother, and it’s your husbands job to make sure they do 🤷🏻♀️

In my opinion you are absolutely right for feeling that way. Don't feel bad at all xx
I’m so excited and trying to get organised but not sure if I’m rushing. All advice welcome❤️
1. I’m having an elective c section what after care bits were actually helpful? Are the silicone patches worth it when did you start using and what brand is best? Was a peri bottle still necessary for cleaning the downstairs area or not?
2. Maternity bras. What ones would you recommend and also when did you get them I was thinking of getting them pretty soon but also not sure if they’ll fit by the time I need them or did you just size up or waited till closer to the time?
3. When did you start washing baby clothes and packing hospital bag? I pretty much have everything we need already so I could pack now I just don’t know if I should wait. Same with washing babies clothes etc I plan on washing all newborn and 0-3 months initially then bigger sizes closer to when she’ll actually need them but I still have 8 weeks how early did you start washing clothes and organising drawers etc?

My daughter was a late walker at nearly 20 months but this one is determined to climb, cruise, move at not even 9 months. Any tips on helping him move around safely when I’ve got him and his sister (3) to watch?

When did you make the change? Nearly 4 months old and naps in her pram, she woke up today and decided to roll over in the bassinet 😂 Is it time to put the chair on? :(( she’s probably more than ready, I however, am not 😭

Is anyone else still wearing nursing bras even after they’ve stopped nursing because it’s just comfortable?? Because hi 🙋♀️. I would like nothing more than to retire them as war heroes but what are we all wearing as alternatives? Does anyone have recommendation for comfy supportive cute bras? ‘Cause the girls do be needing more support after 9 months of nursing. I was looking at the Knix no underwire ones.

Everytime my first attempt at crib transfer fails, the second attempt always fails too. I then finish it as a contact nap. Only if I get it right in first attempt does the baby continue with the nap in the crib. After how many minutes do you re-attempt if it fails once? Any tips / suggestions on what I could do differently?
