Gestational Diabetes Support

Had my 28 week glucose test and got the sad call that I do have GD. I’ve gotten through the main grieving stage now (so many emotions!) but wanted to start a chain in this chat for those who are also being diagnosed with GD.

My key worry was the risk to my baby, and the higher chance of not having the birth I wanted. But GD isn’t permanent, and can be managed if you take it seriously & make changes 🩷 so for those who are getting their diagnosis, remember that it’s not your fault & it doesn’t define your birth. I mean, it sucks!!! But it’s only for a short amount of time 🩷 we can do this! 💪🏼

I got the call a couple of weeks ago, it isn't ideal but it's more common that you think unfortunately and so many people get through it okay☺️

I went to mine and felt awful after the drink, couldn’t stay away so drowsy and passed out in the waiting room. Woke up for my 1 hr blood test with sweat and my heart rate all over the place vomited a bit but they still took blood. Afterwards i vomited again so we had to reschedule the test.

The results for the first 2 tests were low. After 1 hrs from drinking the juice my level was 3.5 which now i understand why i was feeling awful.

But then they won’t give me treatment yet until i finish the test or do test myself at home in case i failed the second one and i am worried. I ve been telling them i feel like some food is making me not feel well and now i understand why

Engaged

Had midwife appointment today, baby is 3/5 engaged! Currently 38+3. Hoping she comes soon but I know it doesn't really mean a lot 😂
Have a sweep booked in next week if nothing happens before. Never had one before so feel a bit nervous for it, whats it like? Does it work? I've heard conflicting things but hoping to get baby out before due date to avoid c-section!
3rd baby if that makes any difference 🤷‍♀️ 1st was born 40+1 spontaneous labour, 2nd was c section, so hoping for vbac this time round 🤞🏻 however have agreed to repeat section if i hit due date and nothing has happened.

VBAC denial because hospital doesn’t want to take the risk

So this a little bit of a rant but also want to see what others think. I had a C-section because I was induced (had gestational doctor told me I basically had no option of induction). The induction was super stressful lasted almost 3 whole days. I was 6cm dilated by day 1 lasted 2 days with no progression. Baby was never in distress but because they broke my water and I didn’t want to stay in the hospital for longer I ended up in a C-section. I got told by the surgeon I could try for a natural delivery next pregnancy and to wait a year to get pregnant again. Fast forward to now I’m 19 weeks pregnant different hospital and OB. At my initial appointment OB said she was fine with me trying for a VBAC. I go into my appointment today and ask about my delivery because I am trying to get a doula covered for the birth just to get told the hospital doesn’t allow VBACS and so it’s not an option. I wish they would have told me then and not halfway through my pregnancy now I’m extremely stressed because I feel like the choice is being taken away from me just like my last pregnancy. I’m stuck trying to find a different OB mid pregnancy that will take my insurance or going into a birthing house that only does unmedicated labor which I don’t even know if I can because of my prior C-section. I’m so frustrated and angry at this heath care system that does not care about mothers everything is done to save their asses and fuck what happens to the patient. Sorry for long post just needed to get it out.

Am I horrible?

So my baby is due October 12th but I’m wanting him to be born September 29th bc that’s my great grandmas birthday. I’ve heard amazing stories about her but she passed away before I was even thought of. And I’d think it’d be so adorable if he was born on her birthday. It’s not due to the fact of me being impatient I just feel that would be very wholesome. I hope I’m not a bad mom for thinking this…
