Bed time

What time is your baby going to sleep now? My LO is 9.5 months and her bedtime has always been on the later side (our preference as me and my partner are not early morning people 😂) but struggling to get her down before 9 at the moment! Does anyone else have a baby with a late ish bedtime? I do want to try and shift it to 8pm ideally so I get some time to myself!

My LO was the same and would sleep not before 10 pm (sometimes even 12-1 am). This honestly worked for us as we are not early risers either and would only wake up early for work — so if she slept in late during weekdays it helped me manage work better. But I noticed that offlate she naturally woke up at around 7:30/8 am and I would have to put her back to sleep (since she slept late she would easily go back to sleep too).

So I shifted her bedtime to between 7:30 - 8:30 pm so that she gets atleast 10+ hours. The day I made the shift I basically just didn’t put her back to sleep.. so naturally, her naps and bed time came earlier than usual.

If you are looking to change your baby’s bed time, I would suggest waking them up earlier (or letting them stay up if they wake up early), and then adjusting naps and bed time accordingly.

However, this may mean you and/or partner waking up earlier than you usually do - especially on weekends. So brace yourself🤣

Is it normal to feel this way?

Baby is currently 4 weeks old…I love her to bits but I DREAD her wake windows, as horrible as that sounds😖
She’s rarely content or happy when she’s awake. If she’s awake she’s crying or screaming. I actually get scared for when she might wake up because she gets herself in such a state.
Has anyone else felt this way? Or am I just an awful mum lol.

Im hoping this gets better once baby is a bit older & can interact more with things/play/laugh etc

Hate the newborn stage

Does anyone else absolutely hate the newborn stage? So many of my friends love to borrow him for "newborn snuggles" or whatever but I just can't bring myself to care and just leave him to sleep in his crib as much as possible. I just feel so disconnected from my baby... and in hindsight, I had this with my first 2 as well - I keep them alive but wouldn't say I truly bond with them until 6 months+...

Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like I can't openly talk about it with friends/family without serious judgement though I finally admitted it to my husband last night - I don't think I ever admitted it (even to myself) with my first 2. Is something wrong with me?

Guilt

I had my first ultrasound and I found out my due date is May 11 and my daughter’s birthday is May 9th. I cried for about 15min straight lbvs I was already feeling guilty then I find this out on top of that I have had ZERO energy. I haven’t been wanting to play with my daughter and I feel like a shitty mom. My husband has been stepping up a lot and playing with her but now she seems to have gotten so much closer to him 😭😭😭😭 She’s like all
About her dad now and I feel heartbroken 😭

I know it’s early days…

Baby’s 5 days old and will not sleep in the next to me no matter what we try. I’ve tried rocking it, hot water bottle to warm it, swaddled him, sleeping bag and sleepyhead (controversial I know).
Any suggestions, just want some hours sleep🥲

Baby cries when held by anyone but mum and dad

My LO is 6 months old. We live in London with no immediate family close by. When we do visit, LO has mostly cried when anyone else has held her.
I don’t like seeing her distressed. So when she cries I prefer to take her back to soothe her. My partners sister once wanted to keep hold of her to soothe her herself and LO ended up crying herself to sleep.
I’ve been thinking that she will grow put of this when she builds confidence and independence and not to force and distress her if she cries when held.
It’s difficult though as i feel like my partners family think I dont want anyone to hold her and im controlling for not allowing her to cry.
Any advice? Or is normal to just let them cry?
