Hey ladies! The little man is here but I’m struggling. Day 2 and he won’t sleep unless I hold him all night, we had an emergency c-section and I’m a single mom struggling tough. He is getting donor milk in the hospital along with matching because I’m not producing yet.
Does anyone have suggestions for things to help me recover, bottles/nipples for the formula feeds at home that won’t mess up me breast feeding until I’m producing more, and ways to get him to sleep not in my arms… it’s so hard to move a lot right now so if he doesn’t go down on his own I can’t keep getting up and down but that means I end up sitting sitting straight up and I’m not getting much sleep.
I’m sure once I’m producing milk and more healed it’ll be easier but right now it’s rough!! I gave in and introduced a pacifier too which I’m worried is why he’s not latching as much on the right side,

So I’m gonna offer what worked for us although it may not be the right advise cause I didn’t have a c section but I did tear a lot and loose a lot of blood with my first. We took pillows and my pregnancy pillow and laid me down and propped my arms up so my son could lay on my chest all night. I just wrapped my arms around him and we did skin to skin so he was less slippery and that was how we were able to sleep. Eventually that transitioned into using the bedside bassinet to nurse and then slide him back over to his sleep space but obviously that was when my milk came in to do that.

All 4 of mine have been pacifier babies and i introduced them by day 2 and it never created any issues with latching or breastfeeding. I specifically like the mam pacifiers because they have newborn ones that are really small and light weight that seem easier to keep in their tiny mouths without help.
The only one of mine to have problems with latching and ultimately ended up on all bottles was my second he had a brief nicu stay and because of that was on donor milk until my milk came in and that seemed to put us at a much harder disadvantage than all three of my others who i was able to start breastfeeding immediately after birth. It took me a while to accept that bottle feeding was going to our journey because i desired to breastfeed like my first baby but what he needed is ofc more important than what i wanted. I ultimately pumped for him for 6 months and then switched to exclusively formula feeding him because my supply slowly decreased throughout the months.
I gave birth to my first kiddo a week ago today and all the doctors and nurses keep asking if I’m breast feeding and seeming… disappointed? Concerned? When I say that I mainly pump and bottle feed and then recommend a lactation specialist. We used formula the first couple of days at the hospital, but I now pump enough milk to keep up with feedings.
My baby just doesn’t always latch and gets frantic when he can’t latch and then it all goes downhill from there so we typically stick to bottles. He does latch maybe once or twice a day when he just won’t accept a bottle nipple or to comfort feed, but it’s easier for us to bottle feed. Should I be trying the breast first?

Formula fed 9 week old here. I got the impression that I was waking my LO up to feed when she was just wriggling a bit and not actually awake and hungry. So tonight I monitored her and indeed she just slept. Her last full feed was at 21:00 (she had a 40ml snack at 23:00) and I got so anxious that I woke her up at 5:30 as she still hadnt woken. She only had 70ml lol so I guess she just wanted to be left?
Any advice or experience? 🙏

I’m absolutely baffled…I had SO many people coming for me on TikTok because I said I top my baby up.
I had a rough start to breastfeeding, baby had jaundice & a tongue tie so she was on the boob 24/7 but wasn’t gaining the weight back that she lost. Everyone was super concerned and kept saying she will be admitted to hospital if I continue just breastfeeding. I was advised to pump at every feed. Then feed her that in a bottle after a feed. Then if she’s still hungry, give her some formula. She has never been sick from ‘over feeding’. She’s not a sicky baby at all. So there’s no signs that I’m giving her more than she can handle.
Anyways, It made her weight go up super fast, now that she’s back up to birth weight, the Drs, midwives, health visitors & lactation consultants have all told me to CONTINUE what I’m doing. It’s made her weight stable and it’s made her so much more of a happy baby.
Everyone on tiktok was saying that what im doing is dangerous and misleading to other new mums and saying i shouldn’t ever top up. Saying crying all day is normal because its to build my supply (even tho baby is on boob constantly + im pumping).
Im honestly so confused. What happened to feeding on demand? What happened to following hunger ques? What happened to listening to medical advice?
As if I’m being told by strangers to just let my baby be hungry all day. So so confused!
I NEVER knew topping up was viewed so badly and strongly by people!
I really wish I didn’t have to, I wish my breast was enough for her. I wish I could feed for 20 mins then leave the house but I can’t. She’d be on the boob 24/7. We wouldn’t be Able to do anything! I had 2 weeks of that before the feeding plan it was hell.

My little one is two weeks away from turning six months old. We’ve started weaning her on vegetables. A few weeks ago she used to sleep for five to seven-hour stretches but the last week has been awful. She wakes up every hour or two, crying but her eyes are closed. I rock her to sleep or sometimes feed her to sleep. The only way she’ll sleep for any length of time is in bed with me and my partner – not ideal! Has anyone else been through this or is currently experiencing it? Any tips on how to help my little one sleep longer or through would be really appreciated. Thanks! X

Hey so I’m looking at buying my little girl one of the metal little dutch prams instead of a push walker for Christmas so was hoping people that have one would be able to let me know if it seems like it would work well, she’ll be 7ish months (around the age her brother started using his walker) and is on the taller side but I don’t know anywhere near me that sells them in store so can’t go and see for myself how tall the handle is and how sturdy it feels, TIA x

My baby has just turned 9 months, he’s exclusively breastfed and obviously now weaning. He has never slept through the night, I don’t remember the last time I had a big block of sleep. At the moment there is no pattern, so I get anxiety most evenings not knowing what’s ahead. The biggest stretches seem to be 2 hours/2.5 hours, last night he then woke every hour after that first stretch. He is in his own room now as I thought we would be disturbing him, he’s had no trouble being in there as the sleep is no different really. I feed to sleep for naps and bedtime, sometimes on the first wake I can get away with popping dummy in but majority of the time he just wants comfort on the boob. My partner works long late shifts 90% of the time so I am doing most of this alone, but when he does try to settle him he goes crazy and won’t calm down until I come in. My baby has two naps a day currently, one around 2 hr 45 after he wakes (also wakes at different times) and tends to have an hour + nap in the morning, then another nap in the afternoon around 3 depending which can be an hour or so or less. Bedtime can vary because of that but tends to be around 7.30-8.30pm.
I go back to work in two weeks and I’m not sure how to navigate that.
I am feeling like a failure and I’m doing something wrong, I don’t feel like any of my friends have any of these issues and it’s quite a lonely feeling, I’m exhausted.
