Help

I’d really appreciate some advice because I’m finding this difficult as a mom. 😔

My son is 4½ and in kindergarten. He has had some behavioural challenges, but he has also made a lot of progress. He’s not perfect—no child is—but I’m consistent with him and I work with him a lot at home to help him improve.

I also know that his behaviour is not the worst I’ve seen from children his age. I still take it seriously and want to continue supporting him the best I can.

I have a former friend who is 54 and tends to be very judgmental. She told me that if his behaviour doesn’t change before he turns 5, I’m going to have “serious problems” with him later on. 😕 But he’s only 4½, and I can already see him making progress.

For parents who have experienced behavioural challenges with their children around 4–5 years old, did things generally improve with time, maturity and consistent parenting? Do some children simply go through a phase and change a lot as they get older?

Honestly, my biggest regret is sharing my son’s struggles with this person. I feel like she now uses that information to judge me as a mother and judge my child.

It has really made me think about how careful we should be with personal information, even with people we consider friends.

I’d really love to hear from parents who have been through something similar. ❤️

It’s hard to say without knowing more about what those behavioural challenges look like. My 4 year old has definitely become harder work since turning 4. I’m not concerned. All kids have their worst year at some point as a toddler. My oldest had her year at 3 which was awful & was fine by 4. My 4 year old never had the terrible twos or threenager & is having her year now. I’m sure she’ll be fine when she gets to 5. She’s pretty shouty & screams & cries a lot. She’s pretty reactive but at the same time her sweet, loving & empathetic self is still in there (when no one’s winding her up). Who knows which year my youngest will be the most testing 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would ignore this ex friend & don’t let her judgements sit with you. You know your child best & as you say he’s already improving. You sound like you’re doing a great job x

My mum gives my son gummy sweets!

I've just come home from work only to find out my mum has been giving my 13 month old son Maynards wine gums🫪

My son ran up to me so I picked him up and he started crying and pointing so I followed where he was pointing which was my mum's bag, he reached in and grabbed the packet and then started screaming because I told him no. She said I've only been giving him smaller pieces! So!?? Now my son's having a meltdown....

Told her off. She said she won't do it again. Do I trust her? No😅

It's hard parenting our parents.

This is f**ked up🤦🏻‍♀️

My man’s constant comments about my postpartum body got my head f**ked up. At 24 yo I just had my second son in June 16 and am already down from 150 to 118 pounds and I’m proud of that…but my man (who’s very into fitness) is constantly telling me to go to the gym or sending me workout videos grabbing my tummy fat, whenever the baby’s relaxing he tells me to do squats or sit ups and even sending me A.I pictures of my body edited to what “it could be” he doesn’t see how much it messes with me even tho I say that’s not nice to say. I’ve been going to the gym 3x a week the last 2 weeks and a 2 mile walk daily with the kids sense 6 weeks pp like I’m trying but sometimes I’m just so tired… I’ve always been a very petite person and I know this might sound stupid but I feel rly anxious to just try and get back to how I was. Idk what to say to him because at the end of the day we want the same thing I just want to look in the mirror and pretty again🤦🏻‍♀️

Debt and stress

Hello my partner has managed to get us into a lot of debt to the point we don't have the money to pay for bills and food etc. Obviously with baby arriving very soon as you can imagine we are very stressed to be in this horrible situation. I am in tears everyday, my eldest birthday is soon and I havent got him anything yet as cant afford it. I am super fed up and having horrible thoughts which I shouldn't be as i should be so excited this baby is coming but all I can think about it money troubles 😪 my partner has said about writing off the debt which will mean it will leave him with bad credit and we are renting as cant afford a mortgage but going forward I feel like its not the best decision? Can anyone advise please

Holiday season for co parenting

So I came with an idea to split the day with my sons father because it will be our sons first holiday season. We got a letter in the mail to go by even and odd but I think for his first year we should split the day in half so he both get to experience his first with each family. I originally told him that I wanted Odd number years but then I started thinking that we could just split the day instead, and then go by even and odd. Do you think it’s a good idea? And do y’all think my child’s father will agree? He just start coming around and truthfully if it was up to me I wouldn’t let him get any holiday at all but a part of me is trying to be fair and still cordial with him.

Pregnant teachers?? Help!!!

Am I being a bitch or is being asked “how areee youuu” in that patronising tone 17 times a day by staff members SO annoying. A child said to me this morning “woah your tummy is getting really big”. I’ve had staff members tell me “my pregnant Mrs isn’t that big”. The kids have an excuse but adults??!! WHY do people make ‘big’ comments. It’s crazy because if I turn around and say ‘and so are you’, I’m suddenly the bad guy. How are we all coping doing this job whilst being pregnant. I’m 6mo now. I’m clinging on by a thread 😭😭😭😭.
