I'm currently on maternity leave but even now I feel like I don't have time to keep on top of the house chores/social life/ self care/cooking!
My job will be mon-fri 9 till 5 and my partners job is the same. I don't get how by the time we pick up little one from nursery, cook and eat tea, have a bath/book bed - you're then supposed to cram everything else in as well as giving yourself some chill time?
What do people's day to day evenings and weekends look like? Any hacks or tips (other than getting a cleaner which isn't financially possible with the nursery fees).
I'd love to hear how the weekend is split too to make sure you and spouses have your own time and together time :)

I am also interested to know! Anyone?

I read The Organised Mum Method a while back and there are lots of useful tips in there. The method talks through cleaning sections of the house for 30 mins each day, excluding weekends. You could squeeze in some time first thing in the morning or some time in the evening, especially if your partner can help get little one ready for bed. It’s worth a read!

It’s hard at first my son is almost 6 months and I still haven’t figured out how to get things done…. We just try to tackle one thing at a time

You don’t tbh. But you learn to come to peace with it. It’s the same as most jobs. You’re not an octopus and can’t do everything all the time.
In our house, sometimes the dishes are left to the morning, sometimes the showers happen in the morning after, sometimes it’s a freezer food dinner, sometimes we’re late for drop off, sometimes I’m even late to work.
It’s impossible to be on the ball all the time. That’s okay you’re human. Please be easy on yourself. You will find a routine that suits you all but even then it will swing and sway at times ❤️

For example my typical morning is 6am rise, 6:30am breakfast for everyone. 7am get dressed. The kids play from 7:30-8:30 while I get dressed, fed and organise the house then we leave at 8:30. HOWEVER, yesterday my son was all ready then his wee sister was sick all over his trousers. Had to change him, he had a tantrum as you would if someone was sick on you and we left late, he was late to nursery. None of the house was tidied before I left. Life is life 🫠😂

Scheduling! I set myself up every day of the week and make sure my husband knows what tasks he’s in charge of vs what I’m in charge of. I have a cleaner come once a week to help stop on top of thing. Meal prep as much as you can ! Things like easy crock pot meals. Whoever isn’t putting the baby down makes the dinner and once the baby is down we eat together. We also give eachother 1 hour a day no baby.
Not every day is perfect but we have gotten into a nice little routine which makes things easier

We have a rota for house chores/cleaning - both of us spend around 15 mins doing something each evening after little one is in bed and then we make tea and eat/watch tele/chill together. Our little one is 21 months old and it’s taken all this time to find a system! It’s still stressful but it’s definitely helped so that we don’t leave the house jobs so long and then everything needs doing at once!

I work from home 2 days and thats basically when I do things. Get up, clean kitchen. Have coffee. Wake daughter up. Take to nursery. Come back washing that was put on the night before out. Go upstairs spray bathroom down. Put clothes. Away. Start work. Remember to eat about 3 hours in and have a biscuit because its too late for breakfast. Lunch break I do gardening. Remember I forgot to eat about 2 hours after lunch and quickly grab bread and an apple and get back to it. Finish work wipe bathroom down and then have a quick shower before spraying after shower spray you leave on. Then pick my daughter up. We play, she goes to bed and i clean the living room i then eat dinner about 10pm. Going to the office is my rest days because weekends arent rest and wfh days arent rest.

I’m a solo mum and work full time. It’s def busy and the only time I’m not either working or doing childcare is - for about 20mins after drop off and before I start work on days I work from home; and after my daughter has gone to sleep, before I go to bed. I use these times to clean and cook. Oh, I also get a couple of hours at the weekend when she naps. I try to prep some meals in advance so it’s easy when I get her home from nursery, or just cook simple things some nights, like scrambled eggs, toast and peas. The hardest thing is doing bigger jobs - like cleaning windows, washing floors, building furniture / toys etc. but I just have to stay up late. I do a lot of mental planning, figuring out when I will fit x thing in. I do very little ‘self care’ I do have friends over for dinner - when she was younger we would eat after bedtime, but now I do dinner for all of us together before I put her to bed - again, something I can prep in advance or salad bits in summer.

Yea exactly like which day is dedicated to laundry day and it's even hard to find time for food prep TO FEED MYSELF

I personally don’t believe it’s possible lol. I’ve only been back at work a couple weeks and I feel so stressed to get everything done during the day and it’s just not gonna happen. I think somehow you just magically fit things in here and there or accept things look totally different now. Not sure! 🤣

I am getting myself confused regarding the 30 hour for 9 months old
Will like if someone can help confirm if I’m right
My daughter was born 22 of Feb, she’ll be 9 months in November, the term after Nov is January, I resume work in January officially as well, but I will be taking annual leave into February
Can I get the funding from Jan?

My husband is in the army, he’s separating due to his injuries. He’s currently in a holding unit but will be coming home soon in a few weeks. I just got this message from him and I am not really sure how to respond to it or how to feel about it. What do you think 🤔

“So I go to the track almost everyday to run and this girl also goes and we basically been like running together everyday like nothing crazy just side by side and talking but she wants my insta , I don’t think she’s weird or anything I wanted to ask u first if I could.”

What's the point of this f****** app? If none of you respectful b******, wanna hang out i mean, like everyone I talk to either tells me they haven't been able to make friends, or they just stop responding!!!!

Anyone else find motherhood extremely tough? I love my baby. I feel like everyone says how much they love it but dont talk about all the challenges and times of loneliness that come with it.

Hey, so a quick back story - I live with my 3yo & ex (applied for council housing in July but waiting for confirmation so I can start bidding - he doesn't know this).
I applied for UC on the 10th of this month & had my job centre ID meeting last Monday (he also doesn't know about this). I'm waiting to hear back if I'll get it or not (I spoke to Citizens Advice prior to applying & they said I would be eligible).
My issue😬😬😬 I need to resubmit on my tax free childcare account by the 17th of October (I know I can't have both UC & Tax free childcare) but I don't wana cancel it in case I'm not accepted for UC 😬
Annoyingly, my childminders fee is due on the 1st of October. If I add money to my tax free account, will I get the top up even though I haven't resubmitted yet?
Also, if I add money & need to cancel to use UC, is withdrawing the money I added simple/straightforward?
Ugh, I duno what to do!😳😵💫 As I don't wana cancel tax free childcare in case they don't give me UC.
Any advice please? 🫣
