Constant argument with my partner on how much is okay to spend! This year I have spent less but by thrifting have still got a similar amount of pressies for her, which he now says it’s both the cost and the amount of presents that bothers him.
I would say I spend approx £100 (slightly less / more depending). Same for Christmas.
Thanks in advance!

We try and use a rule. Something he wants, something he needs, something to wear and something to read.
This keeps it in check a bit but we try and get things on sale/black friday etc. make use of those things. He’s always getting new toys etc through the year anyway so we just keep the bigger gifts. Like xmas this year he’ll have a balance bike and helmet hopefully which will be a little more money. I think you’ve just got to be sensible but it can be hard when you want them to have everything. 😅

I become a CONSUMER on Christmas lol I can’t stand myself but I love how excited they get for their birthdays and Christmas time. 🙈
I don’t do trending stuff really, we focus on items that will enrich their little lives but they get to make their lists and I just love fulfilling them.

I think I’ve spent about €240 between his birthday and Christmas presents…. I buy them all together and then divide them between the two days, not so much based on cost but based on what I think are a good mix of presents to get
It also helps to spread the cost of Christmas a bit to get his presents early

We have been together for coming up 2 years and we have a 5 month old baby girl. He was a great boyfriend and we spent basically every day together and then he had to go back home to live with his parents for a while in Wales and I had to stay in York with mine (personal family reasons on both sides). While we were apart I found out I was pregnant, he was happy, everything good. He would come to the scans and whatnot (as he should) but I had a really lonely pregnancy. Then he got a part time job in Wales and basically just kind of expected me to move there. I did because I didn’t want to be away from him or our daughter. I’m a very social person and he’s not, I’m happiest socialising with my friends and family and have a wide range of friends. He doesn’t speak to anyone but his family who we now live about 10 mins away from. His family are lovely and I get on with them really well but I feel really alone here too. I basically do the whole parenting thing alone. I’m with our daughter 99.9% of the time. He’s made ‘jokes’ saying if I want him to do all the baby stuff he will do it but he would want my maternity pay. I do a lot of meal prepping to make it easier and stress free so all he does is defrost dinner and warm it up and that classes as cooking dinner. He hardly washes up anymore. He drinks 2/3 of a bottle of whiskey most nights. He’s not a bad drunk or anything he just stays downstairs while me and our daughter are upstairs. He’s never done a bath time or a bedtime with our daughter. He has to be asked to do things for the baby and the house. Like have some initiative???!! I understand that relationships are give and take and a huge compromise and that they change after having a baby but I don’t feel appreciated or really wanted. I think he loves me but it’s easy to have me here. He says if we break up he wouldn’t be with anyone else because he couldn’t be bothered to date someone else. We don’t go on dates, no gestures or anything. I just feel like I’m in the way. And I know you’ll say to communicate with him but anytime I’ve tried bringing up moving back to York he makes all my points seem silly and ends up saying “you don’t really want to live in York tho do you?” And laughs at me. I just feel trapped and like I would honestly be happier and more free if I was a single parent because I’m not constantly irritated that he gets his own life and I’m stuck in the house with our baby and no social life. I love him and I want our daughter to have her dad in her life but at what point do I prioritise my happiness? Obviously the ideal situation would be that he changes his behaviour and starts acting in a way that values me and helps more but he prioritises himself over us. Any advice would be lovely💗
