Bringing baby home from hospital

Need a bit of advice as I’m a bit unsure.

I don’t have a car, nor do I even have a license so driving to the hospital and back home is not an option.

We’ll get an Uber to the hospital but how would you get the baby back?

We’re considering uber back too, but then would need a car seat and I feel maybe it’s a lot of money to spend on a car seat when we don’t have a car nor the ability to drive😅

We don’t have anyone in the area with kids who we could borrow a car seat from, nor anyone near us who even has a car.

We’re in London

What would you do?

I would buy a car seat regarless I think. Even if you dont have a car. What happens if something happens to the baby and the ambulance is 4 hours away and you need to rush it to the hospital? There is usually loads second hand on Facebook marketplace, but for babies safety I would still invest in the carsear. Xx

I would still get a car seat just so you have one, if you don't use it again you could always sell it or keep it safe if you do decide to start driving. You may have to check hospital rules as they may not let you leave without one as I know some hospitals are like that. Good luck whatever you decide to do ☺️ xx

When u take the baby out of hospital u gotta have a car seat right to leave with baby

Hospitals have absolutely no ability to ‘stop’ you leaving without a car seat. You could in theory walk out with a pram or whatever.

But as some above have said it’s worth getting one just in case there is an emergency and you need one. Avionaut cosmo is a good budget option that is actually properly safety tested.

Thanks for posting this question as I also have the same predicament! Does anyone have any recommendations for car seats for people who don’t own their own car and so would need a versatile one that can either slot in or be fixed into a car by the seatbelt all quite easily without needing a separate base?

Taxi's services are exempt from Car seats so you dont have to put children in one when travelling with Urber. Its only how comfortable you would feel with baby in your lap, maybe it would a good idea to put baby in a sling on your chest instead.

If you do buy a car seat the only issue you might find is if its compatible with the car...some iso fixers may not fit well...? Maybe explain your situation to the hospital and see what suggestions they have. There has to be other couples who have been in a similar sitation.

I would still buy an infant carrier. If you're ever travelling in a vehicle then you'll need to put baby in one (Uber, taxi, ambulance, friends car etc) and they can be fitted with the seat belt.

The britax baby safe core is recommended by expert car seat retailers and is about £50 from certain retailers at the moment

I took my first baby home on the central line after an emergency cesarean. Not advised 😂

PLEASE HELP

Hi guyss I’m in need of help PLEASE! I am a POC and before getting pregnant I had BPD ( borderline personality disorder), anxiety and major depressive disorder, ptsd and ocd. I am 27 weeks pregnant and my prenatal depression has been horrible. I’ve been crying so much and physically feeling like I’m losing myself . I have a therapist, I told my OB everything. I finally decided to take that step and get back (previous times 2019 & 2022) on meds. But now I see all of these things like it can hurt my baby. Please someone help I need to know is my baby gonna be okay. I only took half a pill. Is there any POC that can send some advice please. ( nothing against anyone but our brains are wired differently and doctors treat us differently as well) .

Boy patted my baby in her pushchair today

Just want peoples opinions. So today I was in a children’s charity shop with my 6 month old and she was asleep in her pushchair. A boy who looked maybe 8-10 years old came over to us and patted her gently over her blanket. I was a bit taken back and then he went away and came back 10 mins later and asked me “what did I just do to your baby?” And I replied “you stroked her” then I asked him if he was with his mum or dad and he said no he’s with his tutor. I could see the man on the other aisle. I felt uncomfortable and just walked away with my pushchair. She stayed asleep the whole time. Am I being really silly in feeling scared at the time? Maybe it’s my anxiety after my baby was born as she nearly died or maybe it’s just normal that I was scared? I feel bad as I don’t know if he was special needs? It seemed like it but I just felt strange about it all

Going toilet

Any advice/tips on weeing after birth? I had my baby girl yesterday and I’ve got a second degree tear, very close to third degree. I’m in so much pain with going to the toilet. I’ve got a peri bottle and spritz for bits for after but has anyone got any other recommendations that helps the stinging? I’m drinking lots of water to make sure my urine isn’t concentrated too

Daytime newborn 😭 4.5 weeks old

How do people manage through the day with a baby who will NOT under any circumstance let you put them down for just one second. When she is being held she is silent/content/asleep but the literal second I try put her down on any surface she goes absolutely mental screaming and crying.

My baby literally does not sleep through the day - I’ve seen other posts saying similar but wow😵‍💫 Exhausting.

Suddenly super clingy!

Has anyone else experienced a really clingy phase around this age? 🥹

Recently, after breastfeeding, he’ll fall asleep on me only for him to instantly wake up and cry when I put him down. He also suddenly wants to be held pretty much all the time, and if I leave the room or he can’t see me, he’ll cry — then as soon as I come back into view, he’s happy again 😂

I’m sure it’s all completely normal, but has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated! ❤️
