How to potty train an non verbal child with autism as well ?

My husband and I have six kids and our child who is non verbal is a twin but a bit delayed (because of his diagnoses ) and he’s too tall for anymore pull ups let alone diapers but refuses to sit on the toilet or anything … we desperately need any help that has gone through the similar situation PLEASE!

How old is this kid? My ASD step daughter didn't finish potty training until 6. The thing that helped most were feel wet pants and reminding her to try on a timer.

Struggling with my 4 year old with this she won't tell us she won't care and she would honestly even play in it if we don't notice! Struggle is real lol

Do you guys work with a BCBA? This would be right up their alley to help with planning and then finding ways to put that plan into action that will work with your specific kiddo.

They make pull ups for older kids and your doctor can put an order in so the insurance mails them to your house for free.

Practice and reward systems that work. One of my kids liked stickers more so we did a sticker chart and the other could be influenced with candy.

Watching child appropriate videos, reading books about, using dolls and stuffed animals to model potty training helped. Getting a song they are excited about to make interrupting something for potty time fun or a song to sing after they go to celebrate.

Some high needs kids just dont have interest or desire to potty train and looking into options for training pants while it's being worked on with or without therapy might be the most comfortable option.

Yes we def have that going since he’s diagnoses , he gets diapers delivered at home along with pee pads etc , and couple of times I’ve asked twin brother to show him how he uses the toilet and when he does , but he’s very “I don’t want him seeing me peeing mommy “ type , so we try to show him videos , we have a chart of a toilet picture and keep asking him “potty potty “ and he just repeats the word , at times I’ve bring him in the r.r with me , and I’m showing him along with his stickers that this is potty etc but again he walks off and goes back to his own lil world .

Mum has asked to be at the birth and I said no…

I’m having my first baby in January and my mum asked me today whether I’d like her to be in the room alongside my husband for the birth of little boy. I could tell she asked because it’s something she really wants but I felt it was important to be honest and say that I really just want it to be my husband and I, but would absolutely love for her to be in the waiting room and the first to meet him after us.

I received a really hostile response back and she told me that her best friend witnessed her daughter’s birth and she feels like I don’t love her as much / im not listening to her feelings because I don’t want to go down that route. It then became quite a negative conversation around how she feels left behind and that I only go to her ‘when I need something’.

It’s made me feel really emotional and turbulent and it’s made me feel quite sad because I feel like she’s not listening to what I want and my boundaries but instead making me feel bad for what is ultimately my decision.

Has anyone had something similar happen? How did you navigate the conversation after?

Need advice

My 10 week old has always been very attracted to me from the start and early on when I put her down in the bouncer or the mat to play she woukd start to cry after 10-20 minutes. Recently its gotten alot worse to the point she starts to cry as soon as I lower her down or bring her away from me. The only time she's happy and not crying when im not holding her is nappy changes, she rarely does tummy time on the mat as she will just scream the place down (she does it on my chest instead).

Will she grow out of this or is there anything I can do to settle her when I put her down, ive tried toys, lights, singing, books but nothing works unless I pick her up. I feel bad that nothing gets done around the house or that I dont get 5 minutes to myself. Shes exclusively bf.

Screaming only at night

Has anyone else experienced this with their little one? 🥹💗

My little girl is nearly 7 weeks old and during the day she’s generally absolutely fine, but as soon as nighttime comes around, it’s like a switch flips!

She screams and cries, sometimes for hours, and it feels like nothing I do settles her. I’ve tried feeding, winding, changing, cuddling. I even started her on infacol and giving her gripe water.

The strange thing is that it’s only at night! During the day she’s a completely different baby.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it just a phase, witching hour, colic or something else? When did it get better for you?

I’m absolutely exhausted and have no idea what else to try.

Owlet Sock Red Alert

Hi mums! Has anyone experienced their Owlet sock giving a red alert for oxygen levels dropping below 80%?

This has happened twice now with my 7-month-old daughter, both times while she’s been sleeping on her tummy. Each time I’ve gone straight in to check on her and she’s been absolutely fine - breathing normally, responsive and sleeping peacefully.

What’s confusing me is that the Owlet seems to work perfectly fine the rest of the night, and on other nights, showing completely normal oxygen levels. Even when I check the history after the alerts, her oxygen levels look normal, although I understand the graph shows averages.

She’s also recently had a cold and still has a slightly congested, runny nose, so I’m wondering whether that could be contributing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you get your baby’s oxygen or breathing checked by a doctor, and was anything actually found? Or did it turn out to be false alerts from the Owlet?
