Numbness

I’m SURE it’s been asked before, but I’m over a year postpartum and still have no feeling in my scar area. I sometimes get an intense itch that can only stop with wicked hot water but that’s it. Anyone else have the same?

3 years since I had my C-section and I still get intense itch from time to time.
for me I think it happens when my skin is dry, so I use lavender oil and if I don’t have that I use lotion, usually calms down the uncomfortable itch

If the feeling doesn’t return after 18 months, it won’t be coming back

18 months pp and still no feeling for me either

You can fix it with desensitization and gentle scar massage. Check out @the360mama on Instagram. It helped me out a ton!

Yep. Some nerves were literally cut and will not regenerate or get better. What DOES happen is that you get used to the numb feeling over time (I have had knee surgeries >15 years ago and don’t have feeling on the front of either knee. After a couple of years you just get used to it as your new normal and I rarely think about it anymore)

Sleep

My LG (2.5) has always been a great sleeper. She still naps during the day, usually for anywhere between 1.5–3 hours, but lately she’s been fighting her naps and they’re getting later and later. But when shes gone, shes sparko!

We’ve had a few days recently where she hasn’t napped at all, and if she’s kept busy, she gets delirious by the end of the day before sleeping from 7pm–6am.

However, if we’re having a quieter day at home or I can’t get out, she might finally nap from 1–3pm. I try not to let her nap that late because it pushes bedtime back to around 10pm, but I also don’t want to keep her awake when she’s clearly exhausted, whinging and in need of sleep.

Does anyone have any tips for gently waking a toddler from a nap so they don’t sleep for so long? Or is it time to drop naps altogether? Alternatively, how can I get her back into the routine of napping from 12–2pm like she used to?

I know she obviously still needs the sleep, but our days are now starting at 5am, and I’m struggling to work out what’s best for her. I'm also aware the clocks go back soon which will fuck me even more. Shes up from 5/6am. She has so much energy and we play from the moment she opens her eyes till bedtime.

For context, I also have a 6-month-old who sleeps amazingly from 8pm–7am. This then means I sort my toddler out and have to wait upstairs until my baby wakes up as transporting her downstairs will wake her unnaturally.

MIL keeps planning to have a sleepover with my EBF 6 month old

She’s too pushy and I’ve said no endless times. It’ll be very stressful for him. I don’t pump because I don’t like it and my baby doesn’t like bottles. I’m currently trying to break nurse-sleep association. It doesn’t make any sense to attempt a sleepover because it’ll be just stressful for baby and I. I just can’t be asked to keep saying NO. It’s almost harassment. I said it’ll eventually happen once I’m back to work, not while I’m in mat leave as I don’t want to be away from my son yet. How can I approach this in a friendly way? She’s just too much sometimes and I’ve been very friendly and open about the idea, but not about the timing.

3 questions mamas!

1) how much sleep are you averaging at the moment? (I’m 3 weeks PP currently and baby is feeding every 3 hours, so getting 3 hours max of uninterrupted sleep)

2) are your babies really noisy and wriggly after night feeds but absolutely fine in the day?! If so, any tips please 🙏

3) following on from above really, how long does each feed take? Mine is up from about 1.5 hours from each feed so it’s sooo exhausting as she just won’t settled afterwards and is really wriggly/nosiy

Just wondering if I’m doing something wrong as I’m so tired and if the feeds were a bit quicker at night/could get her back down quicker it’d be so much better then I could actually sleep!

Thanks so much 🥰

If you’d had this sleep would you get up or go back to sleep?

9pm - 11:30pm (wee break)
11:30-2:30am (up for feed)
3:30-5:30 (up for feed)

Baby went back down at 6:30

When to stop sterilising?

My baby girl is 3 months and already so curious, grabbing things she shouldn’t, touching things that are a bit dirtier than I would like eg the floor and the rugs lol. Then she puts her hands straight in her mouth. I plan to keep sterilising her bottles etc for a while.

But curious when to stop, because at some point they are digesting bacteria anyways? Or is it still important to sterilise up until 1 year because of milk bacteria etc?
