Disappointed in a scan?

Hey guys, so I thought I was 6 weeks pregnant yesterday so I had booked myself in for a pregnancy confirmation scan. I had the expectation to see a yolk sac and possibly a faint heartbeat however when the midwife first looked it was an empty sac no yolk in sight. She did manage to find tiny thing she said she thinks is the yolk sac and marked me down as 5 weeks but would like to see me two days again to see if the yolk sac has developed. It has sent me into a slight spiral that there’s nothing there. It’s my first pregnancy and I am overthinking everything! I was a bit disappointed to not be as far as I thought I was. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Was everything ok in the end? I’ve attached the scan image.

I tried to book into NHS today for a 6 week scan as I had a complicated previous pregnancy. They actually
Said to me they won’t see me as they won’t find anything at week 6 and will only see me week 7-8 as chances are week 6 would only create more anxiety if they couldn’t find it or a heart beat. I would just wait a bit longer it’s too early xx

Hi there - I am an IVF mom and have had two IVF pregnancies where I have gotten week 5 and week 6 ultrasounds for both. I had slightly different experiences so I’ll share both:
1 pregnancy I saw my gestational sac (that black blob on your scan), the embryo, measuring 5 weeks, and a tiny yolk sac. On my second pregnancy, the fetal pole was smaller and hard to actually capture on the ultrasound. The doctor was like, it’s not there yet, but I definitely saw it as the somographer scanned.

For both of my pregnancies, I was able to see the heartbeat flicker at the 6 week ultrasound and saw a clear embryo and yolk sac, measuring 6 weeks. By 6 weeks, you would likely see the embryo, the yolk sac, and a heartbeat flicker above 100bpm, but also not seeing an embryo or heartbeat isn’t entirely unusual, but it is reason to be rescanned.

For right now, the only thing you can do is wait for your rescan. Growth happens very very quickly, so you will know tomorrow if the pregnancy is progressing

Are you super clear about your dating? What was the date of your last menstrual cycle and do you know when you may have ovulated?

Issues with community midwife’s

Hello
I’m 36+2 and I’m officially over the midwife care I have received, I’ve been dismissed multiple times on different subjects by multiple midwife’s in my community midwife team , I’ve not seen one consistently it’s been a group of 4 of them , I get told “ we will talk about that at the next appointment “ only to have somone else and it not be discussed & for my last 2 appointments I’ve been sent to maternity assessment .
I also asked not to see one of the midwives again and I was told it’s not possible and can’t garuntee it .

It’s causing me more stress now than anything is anyone else in the same boat ? Can I refuse maternity care going forward ?
I’m happy to go to maternity assessment if needed but I can’t with the community midwives anymore .

Planned C section

Having my second baby and this time around I have to have a C section due to complications in my last pregnancy.
Could you give me your best tips and advice. I have no idea how to prepare or what to bring or use post healing!
Super nervous about it.
Thank you 🩷

Would you go?

My sister has her hen do abroad, 6 weeks after my baby is due. I’m so torn as I know with my first I struggled leaving her for a minute when she was that small. I obviously don’t want to miss my sisters hen do as I’m maid of honour & so excited for her!
My fiance has said he is happy for me to go and he will look after our toddler and the newborn. (I’d have to pump and leave milk) although we might try to combi feed like we did for our first.
Would love to be there for both occasions. Is it so bad just for 3 nights?

Any advice?

Hi I’m 7 weeks pp after an emergency category 1 section under general anaesthetic, because of this I feel I missed the crucial first few hours of my little man’s life and feel robbed of the first cuddle and here is your baby moment, as I wasn’t back conscious until he was 2 hours old. , has anyone else experienced this? Everyone keeps telling me they’ve never heard of a section done under GA and I feel alone in it with no one to talk to.
