Any advice?

Hi I’m 7 weeks pp after an emergency category 1 section under general anaesthetic, because of this I feel I missed the crucial first few hours of my little man’s life and feel robbed of the first cuddle and here is your baby moment, as I wasn’t back conscious until he was 2 hours old. , has anyone else experienced this? Everyone keeps telling me they’ve never heard of a section done under GA and I feel alone in it with no one to talk to.

Mine wasn't under GA but I didn't get to hold my girl for the first 4 hours.

Took a bit with all the hormones but she's 5 months now and I rarely think about how sad I was at missing those first few hours. She she's developing well so missing the 'golden hour' has done her no harm. I think social media doesn't help saying how important certain things are when not everyone can experience them.

I didn't use it but was recommended the birth reflections service. Might be worth looking into.

I had a cat 1 emergency c section. My little one was born at 9.20am and I didn't get to hold her till about 11pm as after the c section I had to have further treatment as they had missed my eclampsia. My husband took care of her but her first feed was formula and I had no say in delayed cord clamping etc. It was an awful experience but thankful she arrived safely as they had missed so many signs of my pre-eclampsia. She ended up being born 2.5kg and had stopped growing and there was amniotic fluid.

Hi, i had an emergency c-section under GA. It was about 45mins before I was brought through/conscious and could hold my son. Prior to that he was with my husband doing skin to skin. I was able to then breastfeed him. I don't believe this has harmed him in any way and feel we have a lovely bond. He's 4 months old and full of smiles and giggles. I hope that helps ease your mind x

Issues with community midwife’s

Hello
I’m 36+2 and I’m officially over the midwife care I have received, I’ve been dismissed multiple times on different subjects by multiple midwife’s in my community midwife team , I’ve not seen one consistently it’s been a group of 4 of them , I get told “ we will talk about that at the next appointment “ only to have somone else and it not be discussed & for my last 2 appointments I’ve been sent to maternity assessment .
I also asked not to see one of the midwives again and I was told it’s not possible and can’t garuntee it .

It’s causing me more stress now than anything is anyone else in the same boat ? Can I refuse maternity care going forward ?
I’m happy to go to maternity assessment if needed but I can’t with the community midwives anymore .

Planned C section

Having my second baby and this time around I have to have a C section due to complications in my last pregnancy.
Could you give me your best tips and advice. I have no idea how to prepare or what to bring or use post healing!
Super nervous about it.
Thank you 🩷

Would you go?

My sister has her hen do abroad, 6 weeks after my baby is due. I’m so torn as I know with my first I struggled leaving her for a minute when she was that small. I obviously don’t want to miss my sisters hen do as I’m maid of honour & so excited for her!
My fiance has said he is happy for me to go and he will look after our toddler and the newborn. (I’d have to pump and leave milk) although we might try to combi feed like we did for our first.
Would love to be there for both occasions. Is it so bad just for 3 nights?

How did you celebrate your baby's first birthday?

My little one is turning one soon, and I’d love to hear how other mums marked the day. Did you do a big party, a day out, or something simple at home?
