Overwhelmed mama

Hey all,

This is just a rant I apologise in advance and I’m posting anonymously because I’m carrying so much shame for this but I need to say it out loud… being a mama is tough!!!!

Doing it solo since my LO was 6 weeks old and I’ve got so many positives happening right now, a new home I’m decorating and getting ready to move into with my little boy, life should feel lighter. But the to do list, with an 8, almost 9 month old who’s been battling a cold for a week, sleepless nights, grumpy days, I’m burnt out.

I’ve tried talking to my own mum but she questions how I’m going to cope being on my own with him (we are currently at my parents) and when I try to talk to her when I get a little overwhelmed, she responds in ways that highlight why I shouldn’t be struggling and it makes me shut down and say less.

Please tell me I’m not alone having hard days? I’m like a bottle of pop constantly being shook with nowhere to put it, so I’m posting this on here whilst crying on the toilet. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Please be gentle.

You’re not alone! I’ve been there, and I feel the same way when I talk to my mom too. I shut down, stay quiet, or I try to hide it and not share. This will pass. I promise

It’s OK you’re doing great ! I’m 20 weeks right now and I think I’m going to be in the same boat as you soon. I’m afraid I’m going to be alone in the delivery room!

My husband forgot my birthday and our anniversary. I found text messages 10 years ago between my husband and my mother and they were really perverted I can’t drop it ! I can’t talk to my mother at all because she is a “” single grandma “” code for pedo cougar on the loose. My mental health is absolutely disasterous. I haven’t even started baby prepping. I keep freaking out at my husband and he’s blocked me now and I can’t speak to him at all.

Anyways… point being,
these people fucking suck. They’re making our happy times sad ! I wish I didn’t have a husband or a mother at all and then my life would be perfect. I guess what we’re dealing with is the memory of these people and the ghost of them living in our lives.

Like wouldn’t it be so great to have no memory of these people we’d be so happy with the baby 🧐🤷‍♀️😵‍💫 ?!

It sounds like your mom is not an emotionally safe person unfortunately. It’s normal go get a little overwhelmed. We all have struggles! Again that’s normal. It won’t be easy, sure, cuz being a mother isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be ok. You got this! And you might do better when you get out from your mother’s home cuz her negativity definitely won’t help you feel like you are going to be ok, but you will! 🫶🏻

You are not alone ❤️ what you’re managing is beyond difficult…. Yet you are doing it with all the love in your heart and that means you are doing EVERYTHING right xxxx

I think our parents generation had a totally different experience of motherhood or they don’t remember what it really feels like to be in the thick of it…
I solo parent my baby boy of 2 years mostly, my husband travels for work so he is hardly home. So when the sleep regression hits or teething or sickness it genuinely feels so isolating and overwhelming because you still have to manage the rest of the day without failure… while holding the exhaustion and probably also being sick yourself. There’s no rest, no downtime no one to come and take over.
None of that is easy…. You’re doing a DAMN good job, you just keep going keep putting one foot in front of the other honey because you’re doing great and we see you ❤️

Just do what you can do for now. Itll all fall into place. Sending love xx

Disobedient Husband

Hi, throughout duration of my pregnancy the husband has been rude and inconsiderate. He has forgotten my birthday and our anniversary.

I’m not sure if obedience school is an option at this age because he is 40 now and beyond the point of training age.

Any tips or helpful tricks to mediate his autonomy at this time ?

Is it wrong for me to think this?

I can’t wait for my kids to get older. I have an almost 5 year old and a 3 year old. I wish they would hurry up and grow up. I feel like I’m taking care of 2 drunk guys all day long and making sure they don’t die. My oldest has horrible tantrums that he scratches me, bites me, hits me or throws and breaks things. My youngest and him fight all the time. They also need me for a lot of stuff still. I’m exhausted with them I’ve lost myself in motherhood. Even when I try to have breaks whoever is taking care of them I worry if they put something in their mouth or something else could’ve happened that the person may not say or saw. I’m tired my bf doesn’t help me and if he does at times not like I would like or throw it in my face. I don’t trust day cares and I know what I got my oldest is a lot to handle that Im worried someone doesn’t have the patience. I just want them healthy I’m also always worried if they ate enough did that sleep good, it’s a never ending worry that I hope once they get older stuff they can do on there own would help me. I’m just not enjoying this stage that they are in the always falling and fighting the bruises stress me out too. I’m loosing it I have been for a while.

Potty training

I’m due to start potty training my daughter (finally) next week! She’s 2.5 years old. And I just need some tips cause I’m so nervous about it.

I’ve got some potty training underwear for her and some potties to put on each room and an extra seat for the toilet.

My house is carpet so I’m dreading this so much.
She used to tell me when we she needed to poo but the past few days she hasn’t?
Are there any tips to help it go smoothly and quickly(hopefully) since I was have a 3 month old to deal with.
