Advice / Reassurance

Hi fellow mums!

I’m a FTM and my little girl is 6 weeks old today. We are exclusively breastfeeding which has been going really well, she’s gained weight beautifully and really healthy in that department.

I know around this time they say babies hit peak fussiness, but I feel like since around 3 weeks most of her awake time she spends crying, for a while I thought maybe it was trapped gas or something like that but we always seem to be able to get that up if there is anything / I am always trying to watch her cues and ensuring she isn’t getting overtired too quickly, and this works most of the time but isn’t always easy when out and about. It always feels like I can’t soothe her or get her to sleep, she just seems to cry when I try, but my partner is able to settle her almost instantly. It makes me really sad because I feel like I can’t soothe her and as her mum I so want to be able to do that, it’s worse in the evening too.
Over the past few days she no longer likes her car seat or her pram, which is making me loose my confidence in leaving the house which is having a negative affect on my mental health, I also lost a very close family member 2 days ago so feeling very fragile at the moment and I am just looking for advice from anyone who’s a couple of weeks ahead or anyone who’s been through this before/had similar experiences. I don’t know if she’s just being extra fussy at the moment and always fighting sleep, I don’t know if she can smell my milk or if I’m doing something wrong… I just feel a bit deflated.

Hi! Speaking as a second time mum, my husband pointed out something that is very true. Men have to find alternatives to settle babies because they can't feed (if baby is breastfed) so tend to be better at settling them in other ways, and for mums, the baby will smell the milk and always want it so it makes it harder for us to settle without resorting to boob!
And you're right, baby is at the peak fussiness stage. Try not to limit going out because of it, maybe just do shorter trips. As the more often they're in the pram and car seat, the more they will get used to it and accept their fate lol
You're doing great, and we all go through this stage, so just bear with it and hopefully soon it will be a distant memory xx

My 5 week old is the same! Also a second time mum and the carrier is an absolute life saver! It does mean I have to do everything with a baby strapped to me but she settles and sleeps in it fine where everywhere else is a losing battle. Definitely stick with it, it will pass.

My 5 week old baby is the same! Spends most of her awake time crying,.mostly because of wind. I have a sling as well which she loves as she just wants to be close to me. I'm praying the crying improves soon!

6 week old on Monday. The past week has been just like this.
Won't nap, cries all the time in the evenings, constantly feeding and Won't be put down.
It's got to the point I feed and my partner does the burping and putting him down when he's around or at night.
My new motto is grab the snacks and ride the wave 😅

15 month old latching on all night ? Help

My baby was up for 5 hours last night latched on the boob. Every time I thought she was asleep and tried to move her she screamed. She also pinches my other nipple when she feeds and I’m so overstimulated. It was actually a night of torture.

What’s your advice on night like this? Any tips and tricks please

Daytime naps

My little one is almost 6 months and we normally contact nap in the day (or car or pram naps) but I’d really like him to start putting him down for some naps. I can transfer him okay but he wakes up after 15 mins still tired! Any tips?

Autism signs ??

Hi, I am worried that my son has autism. I am a FTM and my baby boy is 2 years old. He can say a few words , but I wouldn’t say 50. He is always stimming “EeEe” , He sometimes responds to his name, he sometimes keep eye contact. He flaps his arms, he had trouble staying sleep & I am exhausted it’s been going on for months😩 I love my baby , but lately it’s been a lot to handle with the tantrums , he often stiffens his body when he’s upsets and kicks . Is this normal behavior for a 2 year old , or could these be signs of autism?

Tv time

A little bit of a confession honestly 🫣 my little girl is 9 weeks and watches the tv sometimes, only really early in the morning when she’s wide awake but I’m still exhausted or before we do our bedtime bath if she’s being cranky while I do the nightly reset and get all her stuff ready, usually it’s just whatever show I’m watching at the time or sometimes Bluey

How much will it actually affect her? She’s not close to the tv and we won’t be doing screens like tablets or phones for a long long while, honestly half the time I don’t even think she’s actually watching it but it makes me feel kinda guilty

Kissing babies

How has everyone approached the subject of kissing their babies? I haven’t had much of a problem with it since he was born but now that flu and RSV season is coming up, me and my partner feel like we want to put something in place. Is it a bit hypocritical cos family have been able to kiss (on the head) our 5 month old but now I’m putting something in place?😩😬
