Menstrual cycle after emergency c section

My first two cycles have been absolutely excruciating after my c section in July , have any other mamas experienced this? How long did it last? What helped ?

Yes. I don’t remember exactly when it stopped being painful I never really experienced period cramps until after birth and they were HORRIBLE. I wanna say around month 4 it stopped and I was never a medication girly but Tylenol helped. But honestly time is the real cure 😊

I had an elective nearly a year ago. I think it was the first 3/4 were excruciating and HEAVY too. After that they seemed to go back to my pre pregnancy normal, maybe a tiny bit more painful but nothing like what it was like those first few months

I got my cycle around 10 weeks PP and I wanna say it was painful until like 9 months PP. I just assumed the stretching of the organ to fit baby paired with slicing it open had something to do with it. I also found I bled more, longer and in bigger clots. I’m 2 years PP and thankfully that has also slowed down. I hardly bled last cycle. Back to my pre-baby ways completely I think.

Are you bsf? I’m 11 weeks pp and mine still never come 😭

I did until 7 weeks but not anymore

After my first emergency section, when my period came I almost had to call an ambulance and that’s coming from someone who has suffered with severe, heavy endometriosis periods with huge clots since I was a child! I thought it was the end for me. I was genuinely paralysed for a short while with it. They slowly got ‘better’ (still horrific for the normal person) but yeah, take care 😭 🙏🏼

Ok this is awful but so reassuring - I went to the ER for my first one last month and truly thought something was wrong it was so scared but everything was ok. Thank you for sharing this because I just feel so seen it’s wild what we go through and I’m so sorry you experienced this too

Yes, my periods were heavier and more painful…I had cramps before, but after my c-section, they were more intense, and also, every time I had to 💩 during my period, it hurt so much. I don’t remember when it stopped…maybe a year and a half post-partum, if I had to estimate. I still get bad cramps, but not every time I get my period, and it doesn’t hurt anymore to go to the bathroom. After my c-section, I would get bigger clots during my period, and I still do get bigger clots now.

VBAC or elective?

I’m due 28th November and classed as a high risk pregnancy due to preeclampsia with my first at 37 weeks. I was about to be induced with my first but her heart rate dropped so I was taken in immediately for a category 1 caesarean in 2023. Recovery was fine for me and I am currently set to try have a VBAC this time round… however
I’m suffering so bad with PGP this time round like it’s excruciating 😣 and baby is measuring on the 77th percentile (first baby was 8lb 4oz born at 40 weeks)
I have 3 more scans and consultant appointments booked before due date with being high risk so obviously my decision is heavily dependent on how the rest of the pregnancy goes but I’m so stuck on what to do..
I’d really syked myself up to try for a VBAC this time with how my first birth went (felt like I had the experience taken away from me, obviously glad she arrived safely) but now I’m debating just having an elective cause I’m so fed up with the pain and uncomfortable and worried about labouring and not actually being able to get into positions that help because of the pain i’m in already… but I’m also terrified for a c-section (first was fine as it was that quick i almost didn’t have time to think) … the information leaflets i’ve been given is a lot of babies require oxygen support with electives and also heard the recovery for second c-section is horrendous (I also have a 3 year old and with it being near Christmas i want to be able to be present and able as much as I can) … Im so stuck on what to even try if I have the choice. I absolutely DO NOT want an induction so I’ve already said if talks about that start.. i’d opt for a c-section anyway but I just feel very very confused at the moment.
Any advice please? Think i’m just hormonal and overthinking but different midwives gives such conflicting information and advice!

Thank you 💕

Trickling Waters

Did anyone's waters go in a slow trickle? I had my waters broken during labour with both of my first babies so was the movie-like torrential gush! this morning I had a funny trickling sensation 2 times and had some very thin, clear fluid come out (didn't smell like wee) but only a small amount and haven't had anything since! I'll probably ring triage soon because it is playing on my mind but wanted to hear anyone else's experiences of this, thank you x
