Has anyone here had a home birth before, or a midwife-led birth at the hospital? My midwife said I can consider either option since this is my second pregnancy. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experienced either. What was it like, and what should I be preparing for? ❤️

I had a midwife led birth in August and I felt it was such a relaxing experience. In the hospital I had my LO in they had the lights dimmed with a light projector and calming music which made it really relaxing. I would try to have a midwife led birth again if I can x

My 1st was a home birth, but that wasn't by choice lol he just came so quick x

I had a traumatic hospital birth with my first at a different hospital and so chose to have a home birth this time. We made all the arrangements, got a pool, a tonne of towels, shower curtains etc. On the day, the hospital had a midwife call in sick so we had to go into the birthing centre. We reached the birthing centre within 5 minutes of giving birth. The midwives were excellent and we ended up having really good care.

My first was a home birth till the end. I had to be rushed to hospital but my LO came minutes after I arrived naturally. It was lovely I did hypnobirthing and a pool, I was so calm had everything I needed and found it lovely. I can also highly recommend the safety as the midwives will not wait at home if they are concerned they will get you where your needed

I’ve had both! First was at MLU and second was home birth. Preferred the homebirth as getting into a car in labor was my least favorite part 😂 having a homebirth again with third!

I didn't have a natural birth as i initially wanted, but it wasn't by choice.
Before i had to settle for c section, i had a visit at the midwife led unit - it was very lovely! It didn't really feel like a hospital. You can make a really lovely and calming atmosphere there too with dimmed lights, your own music to listen too and even a water birth if you want. I would say to contact your local hospital and see if the midwife unit organises visits. It's really great to see where you would be and know what it's going to be like. And it's always reassuring to know that you can be close to the hospital unit if anything goes wrong. In my case the hospital unit was literally 2 doors away from the midwife led unit.

I had midwife led with my first - a water pool birth at hospital.
I then had a home birth with my second which was also a water pool birth.
I much preferred birthing at home but would recommend anyone having their first baby to choose hospital just so you’ve got the support there if required.
I felt a lot more confident the second time around and felt like I knew what I was doing which is why I chose home birth for my second.

Ive had both
Both good experiences . I was less stressed at home as i had my eldest with me too
It wad mainly due to us not having anyone nearby to help xx

Not sure if anyone can relate to this/have any ideas would could be causing this but I’ve woken up in the night in pain as I’ve rolled onto my left side to lie, I’ve got severe pain in the right hand side of my bump? Does it just sound like stretching of the muscles??

We had our 8 week GP appointment yesterday and I can’t help but feel it was a waste of time!
My baby wasn’t weighed or measured. She did listen to his chest, check his body and suggest that he needs more tummy time to strengthen neck muscles, but that was it. She didn’t discuss developmental milestones (smiling/tracking etc). She didn’t really look at his head shape/development. No room for any questions about these things either!
As a FTM I think I assumed that this check would be very thorough. What was your experience??
