Starting solids

Very nervous about starting solids the right way! Also making sure it’s variety of food, allergens etc. Could someone recommend a guide I could follow day by day week by week to start?

101 before one has everything we needed. Provided safety guidelines, how to prepare, and recipes for adults & baby so we all eat the same thing and don’t prepare different meals.

My child tried around 80 different foods before turning one, and she’s an excellent eater now :)

I’m following the “How to wean your baby” book. She has a plan for the first 30 days so finding that really useful.

Admittedly, we didn't really follow a plan per se, but we just bought this and stuck it on our fridge. We tried new foods just after her morning nap and wouldn't try any new food straight before a nap, or into the evening. We also always did a combination of blended food and BLW. By the time she was 7 months, we moved straight to BLW. My little one is a fantastic eater and has *touch wood* never had a fussy phase. My top tip is not to stress about the amount they are eating, it's all for fun and exploring. There will be mess, but try to remain calm and lean into it as much as possible. https://amzn.eu/d/0b0oDPXp

Safe starts app is great if youre doing BLW.

I was told by a health visitor to start with vegitables. It helps prevent a sweet tooth if theyre given veg first. I was advised 1 meal a day roughly 2 tablespoons worth. Its getting used to tastes and textures not to replace milk at 6 months. I was also advised 30 minutes to an hour after milk so they would be interested in having some food as they wouldnt be too full.

I did 2 meals at 8 months then 3 meals at 10 months. Then 3 meals and 2 snacks after they turned 1

Tantrums during cooking

My 20 months old daughter starts total dramas when I'm cooking. Rolling on the floor, screaming. My husband often works from home, he can't focus. I'm heavily criticized by everyone for letting her watch Sesame Street, but this is terror. I need to prepare meals and she cannot self regulate yet. Am I the only bad mom that turns on tv? It became almost a taboo subject.

8 month old not interested in solids

Guys I’ve been trying my daughter with different foods since she turned 6 months she’s now 8 months old and is just not interested in solids, she won’t let me spoon feed her (she doesn’t open her mouth) I’ll give her the spoon and she just throws it around. She does try finger foods but then spits everything out. I feel like I’m failing her and it’s starting to upset me, she just doesn’t want it 😭
