Does anyone else have a MIL who insists on taking my 12 week old baby to “help” you get a break? 🫠😂
I know she means well, but sometimes I don’t actually want a break from my baby. I’m happy having him with me, and honestly, having someone take him away from me doesn’t necessarily feel like a break at all!
I’d much rather have help with practical things like cooking, washing up or laundry, but it feels like the main thing she wants to do is hold the baby. Sometimes I also get the feeling that she wants to feel like she’s doing her Nana duty, which I completely understand, but it can feel like her need to spend time with him gets framed as “helping me” when that’s not necessarily what I need. 🥹
I feel a bit guilty because I know she’s trying to help, but I also feel like people assume that because we’re new mums, we must constantly want someone to take our babies off our hands. Sometimes we just want support without having to be separated from our little ones. 🥹
Am I being unreasonable, or does anyone else feel the same? How do you handle it kindly without hurting anyone’s feelings?

You are not being unreasonable. These are questions you need to answer for yourself. Whenever your MIL does “help” you. How does that make you feel? If it really is guilt. What do you need for you to feel okay?
You really need to reflect on your feelings and needs first. If your needs are not being met, then something has to change. You can be considerate to the other party and compromise. For example, she only helps if you asks her to, or set a time and a list of chores for her to help you on. However both parties need to benefit from the compromise. If a compromise cannot be met, your needs come first. Even if it means someone else will be disappointed. If the other party lack the regulation themselves to tolerate disappointment. That’s not your responsibility to fix it for them.

You are not being unreasonable you are absolutely valid in your feelings. I would kindly explain to her your needs. Rather thank what you dont need (ie holding the baby) frame it as I could use help with the dishes or laundry .

My mum used to run around doing the chores I didnt get round to doing in the first stage. I wasn't well anyway but yes I appreciated that more than her being a baby hog 😁
How do you cope with the early morning shift with a baby who refuses to sleep anywhere but on you? 🫠😂
We currently do shifts - I’m on duty from 8:30pm to 4:30am, then my husband takes over from 4:30am to 8:30am so I can get some uninterrupted sleep.
The problem is baby basically stops sleeping in his cot from around 4am and will only sleep on us, so my husband ends up staying awake holding him until my shift is over. 🥲
Husband is going away for two nights for work soon, and I’m honestly wondering how on earth I’m going to manage those early mornings on my own! 😭
Mums who’ve been through this, how did you cope? Did your babies eventually grow out of it, or did you find anything that helped? Would love to hear your experiences! ❤️

My Boy just turned 2 in September, my concern is that he still doesn't have any clear words, he points and gestures like hands me his empty bottle or grabs things he wants but doesn't verbally say anything... His hearing is fine I know that, he barely gets screen time either and I am trying my hardest to verbalize everything I do or repeat words when he wants something.. anybody else got this problem or advice?🫠

Any tips for getting my 9 month old to sleep through the night? He’s sleep trained and falls asleep independently, but still wakes up 3–4 times a night. What worked for you?

My LO had her 15 month ped appt and her ped said she should be saying 8-10 words…she is referring us to a speech therapist because she only says around 4-5 words (she babbles like crazy tho). FTM - should I be concerned? I thought every baby is different and develops speech at their own pace? Anyone in the same boat?

I don’t think I consider this cheating but I’m hurt anyway. I was on my partners phone to play music for baby, mine had died, and he was getting notifications to join lives and alerts for people that he had interacted with posting. I checked and he follows women who post nothing but half naked pictures. The thing that upsets me is that they look nothing like me.
He follows thick columbians and I’m the complete opposite. Sex has been painful and difficult postpartum. His reasoning what that we’re not having sex. Porn I can understand and would assume, but following real women that look nothing like me? I couldn’t even figure out how many, at least 10-20 or more.
It’s not like I don’t try other things, he won’t let me do anything to him UNLESS penetration is involved.
I’m probably triggered as well bc when I was a child, I would see my dad on the computer looking at pictures of naked women and more on his phone/camera.
I had said so many times to my partner that it must be horrible if your partner masturbates to people that look nothing like you. I’m not sure why I’m surprised.
Update: it’s over 100 accounts, I just stopped counting. I can’t even describe how I feel.
