Long story short, I added my MIL to a chat for my daughterās birthday party. She had been feeling disconnected from my daughter so I thought this would be a nice way to keep her involved.
Well, sheās been buying things for the party and telling me after the fact, then I feel like an ass for saying no.
I know she is seeing the chat because she replies to everything but Iām just getting frustrated because she hits me with the āI just thought she would like it, but your in chargeā or the āWhatever you want, mother knows bestā⦠I appreciate the good intentions but I just end up feeling horrible for saying No, because itās not on theme. This birthday is special to me and itās the first one my daughter and I are actually planning together.
Should I just get over it or talk to her about it, because I feel like I opened the door by adding her to the chat. š¤

You will never ever get to celebrate your daughterās first birthday again so You should absolutely speak to her. I learnt the hard way of not standing my ground and voicing my opinion from the beginning.

Yeah definitely speak to her, could you give her a "task" to do or get or be like can you help me by getting this for this "themed" party, she can buy anything she wants but doesn't mean you have to accept it or use it she will just waste money. Say something like i appreciate you going out your way to make my daughters birthday special but the theme is ... and I don't want you wasting money by buying... but could you help us by...
Got to set boundaries and not let her walk over you and her making comments like oh mother knows best is so right but the way its used seems snide

Why donāt you talk to your mother in law by yourself and tell her that you appreciate her trying to help out but that you would prefer to pick out the decorations for the party. If she wants to bring a snack or drinks she could do that and tell her what you like. I have a registry for my daughterās birthday that way if I need to buy something I can unless it can wait till Christmas. š

Have you talked to your husband about this? He should back you up and you can send a clear, single message to MIL. I have sadly learned the hard way that my mil will sometimes listen to husband over me

Hi everyone, I rarely get any time to myself or a "day off" as such and on the days that I do, I still have to get up with the kids, do breakfast time ect whilst my husband has a lay in.
I get extremely frustrated because if you are working and you have a day off, you dont have to pop into work for a few hours do you? Like I still have to do the cooking and the washing ect. But for an actual job, you dont have to clock in to do the work that the other colleagues are incapable of doing so why should I?
Am I wrong for getting angry about it? I feel so bad on my babies for being frustrated about it but I cant help it.
As a stay at home mum, living away from the place I grew up, I literally do this solo for the best part of every single day. I have no friends or family surrounding me to help and my 1yo and 2yo are WILD.
Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation and how to go about resolving this.

Iām a FTM to a wonderful 2 month old girl! I am trying to get back to making my own money so I donāt have to depend on my fiancĆ© for everything so Iām exploring the world of insurance. I got my license to sell life insurance last year and didnāt do anything with it so I figured Iād try it out.. I got connected with a company that has daily 8am training calls and other meeting throughout the day.
Iām struggling with how to juggle attending the meetings and doing all the things at home.
My fiancĆ© thinks Iām making a big deal out of it and itās completely doable because he will take care of baby while Im on meetings which is great! However him taking care of baby while Iām in meetings is him holding her while she is sleep or maybe feeding her.
Thereās still dishes and bottles and cleaning and cooking that has to be done. And Iām exclusively pumping to breastfeed her. Yes itās very helpful for him to take care of her during that time itās just I know nothing else is getting done during that time cuz men donāt multi talk like women do.
I just feel like I never stop moving during the day there is always something to be done.
I tried getting baby to a schedule where she is sleep from 8-9am but that doesnāt always work.
My fiancĆ© can be super helpful at times but when he has her itās like as soon as sheās sleep or quiet he wants to put her down to go outside to smoke or play his game and 8 times out of 10 baby wakes up or starts fussing while heās doing that and I have to resume duties. I donāt mind but I literally canāt do that if Iām working. Or constantly leave my meetings to go get him to get her..
maybe Iām rambling at this point or maybe Iām really the issue and just need to do more idk.
Either way thanks for letting me vent š„°

My MIL calls my baby her baby and i absolutely hate it, I wouldnāt mind if she said my grandbaby as thatās true! She does also show signs of using her son(my partner) for a lot of emotional support and when she says my baby it sounds like her and his baby 𤢠am I overthinking it?

Anyone else struggling to eat well and enough to the point of shaking and heart palpitations? How are you guys finding time and energy to eat enough and nutritious meals being alone with your baby?

I really hate being a mom like 90% of the time. I feel like im the mom i never wanted to be as in im angry and impatient and upset a lot. Im so tired only getting 4-6 hrs of broken sleep for the last 7 months. My son has trouble with drinking his milk and still doesnt want solids, doesnt want to be confined or put down but also wants to be very active. Im bruised scratched up, sore and in pain. Its been miserable 7 months and it just seems to be getting worse honestly and i thought it would get better. I used to be so compassionate understanding and fun and i dont even know who i am. Last night my son was up for 2 hours then 2 hours later another 2 hours i was crying and yelling please go to sleep. I just dont know how im going to keep doing this. Theres nothing to do i just got to keep going but its hard when theres no end in sight.
