Am I being out of order to my partner?
I have just received my first months SMP pay.
We knew things were going to be tight for paying bills. So to help out financially I have done extra work this month at a second job to help pay a little extra towards bills and to be able to have some extra cash for day to day life.
I must’ve work well this month as I have nearly enough to cover half of our joint bills. However my partner is now saying that I can pay everything I have towards our bills leaving me with nothing, but he can’t spare the extra £200 difference because he can’t afford it 🤯
I’m sorry but I’m feeling this is really out of order and unfair? Firstly I have been out and worked my butt off in a manual labour job, whilst looking after our now 7 month old baby to earn this money to help our family through the next 3 months only to have to carry on paying my usual share of the bills leaving me with absolutely nothing 😤
He can’t see why I have and issue and why I feel so disappointed in his lack of help.
Like am I just too old school in my thinking that a man should be providing for his family?
At this point I feel like I should just return to my full time job and figure out how to juggle working full time whilst looking after our child as she doesn’t go to nursery until January

It is old school to think a man should provide, that’s pretty unrealistic as an expectation in today’s world. However it’s very off for him to turn around now and say he can’t afford to put in what he would have had to put in if you hadn’t made the extra money. Like if the idea was that you were on SMP then the plan must have been for him to contribute more for a few months? You’re the one losing earnings because of the baby he isn’t, he can’t just decide all your money is joint but all his is his. Idk sounds like you need a sit down open honest conversation about finances and the plan going forward. We pool everything equally and have exactly the same spending money each month. That way everything is fair and joint expenses are obvious and honest. If you know his wage and he really doesn’t have the money and is unable to make cutbacks rather than unwilling then unfortunately that does mean you need to look at ways to keep bringing in money and it’s not fair to resent him for that.

The important part of this story is whether he actually can or can't afford it.
If he can afford it then I don't think you should be having to pay every last penny leaving nothing for you.
If he truly can't afford it then I can see where he is coming from. If you're both struggling financially you may be entitled to extra benefits like UC so that's worth looking into.
I think it is a bit old school to expect a man to provide, not something I'd necessarily agree with BUT I do believe that in a relationship there is usually a breadwinner and they have a responsibility to provide a bigger share of funds - whether they are male or female.

It is old school to think a man should provide. However bills should be split fairly not 50,50. If he earns more and can afford to contribute the extra without having 0 leftover himself then he should. You both deserve to have money leftover. I have maternity allowance, and live at my parents house with my partner for a couple of months as were having a pain with houses but my partner does the bulk savings, we both buy our sons stuff when necessary, i buy any extra food etc things for us and we work other finances e.g. Christmas equally too.

I hate to say this but surely these are things you work out before living together.
Personally I think the total household income should be considered a total pot of money for the house, doesn’t need to be one bank account but total earnings are yours and his income added together. Bills are paid out of the total pot and then you both get a monthly allowance/budget to spend on what you want. What’s left over goes into savings/family days out/holidays etc.
My baby is 11 months old and since he was born I resent my husband and just don’t love him.
I want to leave but financially that would be stupid as he earns a lot of money and I wouldn’t have anything to my name.
I don’t see our relationship getting better he never helps out because he’s always working but I don’t think that’s fair on me.

Lately I been not in a great headspace and been crying a lot almost like grieving over the fact that I do not have any of my so called friends messaging me since being pregnant or making an effort to come over to hang out. It would mainly be me offering to meet up in town or a small hang out area but ..The plan never goes through but since then I realised not a single so called "friends" have even bothered to check up on me or ask how the pregnancy is going as time has gotten closer and the third trimester being really difficult right now..
For example, around the end of September, I knew one of my mates were going to be out of England for a month, and I wanted to see them before they left. They never told me when other than the beginning of October, so I tried to see if they wanted to meet up, but they kept avoiding the suggestion, and I thought that was weird. Then I didn't hear from them after thar until I found out they been out of England and didn't even bother to tell me....To top it off was active all that entire month on social amd I tried messaging but dead silence for an entire month. But as soon as they sneaked back to England and still no messages. The only thing I got from them was a stupid reel, no message... I felt so deflated at this point and realised I don't think I can be friends with them knowing I have been friends with them for 4 years and had a good friendship..It was like I couldn't recognise who I was messaging or hanging out with...So I have spent couple weeks just meltdown after meltdown about it realising I have no friends who care...
My other mate isn't any better ether she hadn't messaged me once. Who knew about the pregnancy and no messages off of her. She posted that she is having a Halloween night with her mate, and I haven't heard from her since she messaged in early September and saying she was pregnant then messaged shortly after that said she muscarried unfortunately but i tried to keep in touch worrying about how she was coping but leading up to that she didn't message or respond to my previous messages.
So I'm just so embarrassed and upset about the realisation that I'm alone, no friends, no work mates messaging me since I have been on maternity leave, and I just feel so disconnected as a 25 year old I should have some women friends about at least but no..The only person that is helping ne get through it is my partner and his mum and his dad side of the family.
Does anyone relate..

I am looking for more mommies in any area who don't mind texting or being otp. I am currently located in Indiana but don't mind long distance. Im open to do a group chat as well if that works better.

Hoping to find one of those Mom friends that would like to talk to you each day during the workday just to make them better and faster. And then even on to have little friends for our son who's just 2 1/2.

Hey mamas! FTM here! I’m 2 months postpartum and starting to look into birth control options. I wanted to ask other moms what birth control you use, what you recommend, and what your personal experiences have been like. I’m a little nervous about choosing one, especially when it comes to side effects, weight changes, hormones, etc. I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations! ❤️
