KIT DAYS/return to work

Hi mamas, I just need a bit of advice! 🤍

My last maternity pay is this month, and my maternity leave ends at the end of February. I’m planning to use my annual leave afterwards, so I’ll probably be returning to work around April.

How did you get in touch with your manager to discuss your KIT days and flexible working request before going back?

I’ve not heard from my manager in a while, but I do have his number and want to reach out to arrange my KIT days, discuss flexible working, and ask about adding my annual leave onto the end of my maternity leave.

As my last pay is this month, I’m thinking of starting my KIT days in December. How does the pay work? Do you get paid in the same month you do the KIT days, or does it depend on the employer?

Also, if anyone has any advice on what to say when I message my manager, I’d really appreciate it. I think I’m probably overthinking it Thank you! ❤️

I’m due to return to work a couple of weeks after SMP ends as I can’t afford the full year so when I gave the 8 weeks notice to end of Mat leave date, I then specified end of Mat leave date and then how many dates annual leave I was hoping to use and then specified exact return to work date I will be back in the office.
I then sent flexible working request in that email and had a meeting to discuss and now finalising kit dates for December and then return to work in January.
With my work I will get paid the kit dates In the same month I work them but that’s just how mine works.

Hope this helps!

Dont be scared to reach out to them, let them know your intentions about going back so they can figure out dates etc. Asking for KIT days shows that you're planning to return so they will just be glad you reached out, however they dont have to give you any so dont bank on getting them and the money until they have confirmed (although most employers want employees to do at least a few to get back in the swing of things). As far as im aware KIT days are paid for as part of the same payroll so it would be when you would usually be paid. If you aren't sure how to word it, then use chat gpt but try not to overthink it ❤️

I started my KIT days when the pay ended, I was required to give 8 weeks notice for these and I was paid following the same pay structure (I am paid weekly one week in arrears) so it would depend on how your monthly pay works.
I contacted the HR department and they put me in touch with my manager(which had changed whilst I was away)

Marriage dissolving?!

So for the first time after ages went on my husbands phone whilst he was sleeping to find out he messaged a girl “hey baby” and she sent a pic and he said “sexy” and he messaged her “hey baby” again! This is when I was one month pregnant!!! I’ve been the best wife to my husband to find this. After looking at his phone again I find him talking to a prostitue, where she asks what is he looking for and he said sex and ask how much she charges! Whilst me and him was engaged. He claims it was for his friend who wanted clients as part of a business but I don’t believe him. I have a 3 month old and I just don’t know what to do because we were such a power couple and loved each other so much but I just find all this out and it’s torn my heart and shattered me. Advice please!!!

Child benefit over 60k

Can anyone explain what you do when your partner earns over 60k (I claim CB and earn under 60k) . I thought the cap changed to 80 so we've been claiming CB for 2 years without making any pay backs 😐

WFH jobs

Are there any flexible work-from-home jobs available for college students (online) with a six-month-old baby? Even a small amount of extra cash would be great.

Birth control

I went to my postpartum appointment today and they brought up birth control, I’ve never been on any kind of birth control before so what are some things I should know before getting on. I’m breastfeeding and also pumping so I don’t want my supply to drop if possible.
