Does anyone suffer with PPR? I only get it when I'm putting my boy to bed and I have NO idea why. It's completely illogical and irrational but when he's messing around and won't settle I feel the fire rising in me. I get so enraged. Id never hurt him or anything I just have to walk out and take a minute to calm down.

I had it for a while after the birth of my first son. I also had a very traumatic birth and PTSD like symptoms. I did a course of EMDR therapy and that did help.
Maybe reach out to your GP?

currently struggling with this. but more towards my partner and it peaked around 3 months till now

it is awful! I was worse early hours/night feeds when my boy used to still have one.

mine was directed at him too

I had it quite bad for 6 months and I did a few therapy sessions. It helped but ultimately I think after 7 months my hormones shifted a bit and I noticed it was far worse right before my period.

Yep. Had it with my first and it's creeping back in now with my second. Bedtime was a huge trigger for me with my first! I couldn't handle it when it would drag on for hours.

I ended up in Psych hospital for 6 weeks with PPR. It's horrible, but it won't last. I felt really ashamed of it, but with therapy, I'm much better. I still get quite bad intrusive thoughts and still have bad days, but you'll get there!

Me! I never used to angry prior to having my daughter but pp I got this rage inside that I couldnt control. With my second i notice its mostly out of control right before I get my period with no rhym or reason. I know its coming now when I am losing my shit pulling my hair out. Ive been in therapy for years. I have ptsd & adhd so I think that is all playing into the rage and my inability to control it. Im learning how to be able to feel the rage but still react appropriately even when im fuming. Each month that goes by im finding my symptoms more manageable. Meds help as well. Advocate for yourself and reach out to your doctor!

I’m a therapist and had this with my firstborn surrounding bedtime too. What I noticed was that the major trigger was that it was the start of my alone time for the evening and I felt resentment toward my son for taking time from my “me time.” This made me realize I needed more micro breaks from parenting throughout the day so I didn’t need to bankroll it for the evenings. Even 15 minutes of me time to do yoga, meditate, etc sprinkled throughout the day was helpful.
Did anyone feel like it wasn’t the right decision for their family? Our toddler started nursery recently (only 2 days a week), and a few weeks in, I still don’t feel right about it? we technically don’t “need” him to go as one of us is always around, so all I can think about is the time I’m losing with him and honestly makes me feel so sad, and also wonder if there’s something wrong with me as every other mum seems to cope well? I was never really keen on the idea of nursery and it took us 18 months to decide, but I ended up giving in to the pressure that it would be good for him for the social aspect etc, and also the idea of sometime for myself seemed good as well. But now I just feel like the pros are not worth the cons 😭 doesn’t help that our nursery only offers full days, we would love to have the option of just half days twice a week. Also seems like he only enjoys it for a little bit and not the full days 😢😢
Just wondering if anyone can relate!

What porridge is everyone giving to their babies? I was buying the tesco super smooth porridge in the big box but it has been out of stock for weeks! Any recommendations? Have tried normal Quaker Oats but my son prefers the smooth texture. Have also used formula branded porridge but it’s in such a small bag and doesn’t last us long at all. He is 9 months old. Thanks!

Hi, I'm going to visit a potential nursery tomorrow for my LO. She'll be just under 1yr when she starts.
Does anyone have any suggestions on questions I should make sure to ask or anything I should be looking out for?
TIA

I need more support from my partner and he just doesn’t get it. He’ll help out then just go back to not helping. He works all the time. I’m stuck at home. He won’t let me go on a bus and he won’t let the baby go in other people’s cars and I don’t drive. I spend every minute and every day with the baby. He works a lot so when he has a day off all he wants to do is sleep or he says he’s going golfing. Where does my own time fit in? When he does make time for us, most of the time he invites one of his friends. Do you just not want to be around me? I feel like I’m being forgotten about by him and I’m irrelevant. Most of the time he’s the victim in the arguments because when I bring something up that’s upsetting me he turns it around and makes me out to be the bad person of that I’m the cause of everything. I understand that I maybe haven’t been showing up 100% but he struggles to understand the amount of responsibility that lies on me, the house, the baby, chores, remembering appointments etc. He’s suffered with depression so surely he can see that he’s just pushing me further and further away into a depression from his actions. I’ve told my mum I need more support and she is trying to help but as soon as I say oh can we reschedule one day she says that ‘I’m just trying to help and I don’t understand you’

My son started pre-k this year. It's been becoming stressful for me, almost once a week the teacher has to talk to me about my son hitting other kids, they put him on time out and he thinks it's funny. Today he almost got sent to the office. What can I do to improve his behavior?
Also if there are any good book recommendations on parenting?
Thanks.
