Hello can someone help me please UK based as I’m unsure if it’s different elsewhere.
My child is 2, universal credit have told me when he’s 3 I need to be in 30 hours a week employment but I don’t want him to go into nursery due to not trusting the establishment I’ve seen a lot of bad things so wanted to wait until he’s in pre school but his birthday is February so he won’t start pre school until after 3?
Sorry if this doesn’t make sense and is confusing but my main point is would he have to be in a nursery then before he starts actual school? Which means I’d have to apply now for him to start nursery when he’s 3 and do I get government funded hours?

If your currently working you'll be entitled to 30 hours funded childcare you don't have to put them in nursery if you don't want to but you'll obviously need someone to watch your child while you work and yes if you want him to start nursery soon you'll need to apply as soon as x

Some preschool take from 2 and a half, might be worth looking in to that as an option

Every child is eligible to start school nursery when your child turns 3 years old, whether you're working or not.
Personally, I would send him to school nursery when he's 3 because then he will make friends and they'll all go up into reception together, I know it's hard to let go but atleast with nursery he can either do mornings or afternoons just to ease him in whereas is you wait until he starts reception he will have to go full days and it will be a huge transition for him
I'm not sure about the UC side of things. Are you a single mum? I'm guessing that you need to be in employment 30 hours a week for them to still pay you?
He’s 11 months old btw

My little one is starting to love having bits of food now but no interest in water, I’ve tried to help him so he knows what to do but he just doesn’t want it. How are you guys teaching them to drink from a non valve cup?

Any veg combo recommendations that your baby enjoyed? Atm we are getting a few licks, some spitting out and lots of ‘eww’ faces 😅. Does this count as tasting? Also, really enjoying using the spoon as a teether. How is everyone else doing?
Is everyone using a blender to puree the foods or mashing it with the back of the fork?
I’m steaming everything until extra soft so it’s easier to blend/mash with breastmilk..

What's your little one's favourite toy/activity at the moment?
My daughter used to play with her stacking cubes, hoops, Tommy eggs a bit but I feel it's been a month she's completely lost interest in them now. She doesn't even bother opening her toy box! All she does is running around! Is anyone else going through this phase?
I let her help me with little jobs like putting the washing in the basket or unloading the dishwashe, but it usually turns into complete chaos! Sometimes I just need she sits and play by herself for 15mins so I can get on with cooking or other bits around the house
