Any ideas why i gave birth early?

Just reflecting on my birth, all I can think is why? Why did it happen. So does anyone have an idea of what could have caused it to happen

Here is the birth story:

At 31+5 I had a big bleed. When I got seen at triage they said my cervix was closed and the scan showed my placenta was okay. They kept me in for a few nights till the bleeding stopped and gave me steroid injections.
Then again at 32+3 I had another bleed, more blood this time. Again they couldn’t see why so I was kept in for 3 days till that bleeding stopped

Then at 33 weeks, i had felt pelvic pressure all day. And bad back ache. I took a bath and as I stepped out my waters completely broke. I went into triage and they kept me in again, I wasn’t having contractions. They said they’ll try get me to 37 weeks

Then early hours at 33+2 I started getting contractions, I contracted for 10 hours then my waters started turning green. And my baby’s heart started decelerating at every contraction. So I was taken for an emergency c section. My baby boy was a healthy 5lbs5oz. It was later confirmed that I had caught an infection from my waters breaking, and when they got him out there was little to no fluid left at all which was causing decels.

We spent 11 days in nicu and he’s now 4 weeks old and doing so well!
I just wonder why it happened, why I had a bleed twice and why my water broke so early. With My first baby I was induced at 41 weeks so I never went into labour at all, and he was a chunky 9lbs1oz!😅

So sorry that happened!

Have you asked for a birth reflection or asked for a copy of your records? You have the right to all information on your health including a breakdown of what happened and why. You need to be told to understand for your own peace of mind xx

Hey, I’m sorry you’ve had a traumatic experience. I hope you and baby are ok and healing. I don’t know if you’re from the UK but atleast where I’m from in the UK, it is an strict policy that if waters break, baby must be born within 24 hours for the exact reason of infection risks and baby not having fluids, thus resulting in emergency c sec if contractions have not started naturally in that 24 hrs window. I am very shocked that this was not the case but I appreciate you were kept in so the doctors were monitoring you closely. Xx

Scar care and massages

Hi everyone, I’m 6 weeks post emergency c-section and as you can imagine, the 6 weeks check up with the GP was rather useless.

I’m looking at ways to best look after my scar to minimise it, the shelf and re gain normal sensation on and around the scar.

I’ve heard of massages, scar tape, silicone gel … What is it that you do for your scar? Also can I now put body lotion on it? The skin around the area is very dry and flaky as I’ve been avoiding it a lot.

In terms of scar tape, I have time at home but I’m worried it’ll be too sticky and hard/painful to remove, also I have hairs lol on the actual scar since I didn’t plan for it and wasn’t shaved there when it happens and around the scar so I’m worried it’ll pull on my hairs each time I have to remove it. It did with the dressing they put on, it wasn’t nice to remove after 5 days …

Anyway, just your scar care routine and tips would be useful please ☺️

Contractions

Need some advice please! Yesterday I had a loose tummy and nausea, was sick once. Today I have woken up to a stitch feeling on the sides of my bump and the top. I’m having irregular contractions. Just had one 90sec one that made me cry. I have laid down to rest but still getting them.. could this be prodromal or real?

Timing of scheduled C section

People that have a scheduled C section can I just ask when it is booked in in relation to your due date? My baby is breech, I went in yesterday for an ECV but they were unable to turn her. They have now booked me in for a C section, which I am gutted about but obviously need to do what's safest for baby. I know I will be stressing about it right up until the date and they have only booked it in 3 days before my due date. So now I am also stressing that I might spontaneously go into labour before then and have to rush in for an emergency C section.
