God mother drama

I made my best friend of 13 years the godmother to my son (she lives in GA and I live in PA. She attended both baby showers in two different states. She is getting married in Mexico next year. At the time I told her it wouldn’t be a problem for me to attend. Now that my son is here and the wedding will happen before he is even 1 I can’t imagine leaving him, not to mention how expensive the trip will be for just two/three days. She offered to help financially, she said my son can attend, but I’m not comfortable traveling outside of the country with him and my husband does not want to go or want me to go alone for safety reasons. After explaining this to her she seemed understanding. I also mentioned how I’m struggling postpartum with PPD AND PPA. She told
Me to just focus on my mental health and my baby and to let her know for sure by a later date if I could attend or not closer to the wedding. After this conversation she began to ice me out and not really continue conversations. She hasn’t asked about her godson she was so excited about or checked on me after opening up about my mental health. I confronted her about my feelings and it didn’t go well. To sum it up she feels upset and says she knows I have a village and chose to take space from me. She says I want her to get on a plane for the third time in 6 months when I can’t get on a plane for the only thing she asked me to attend. Which I didn’t not ask her to attend both showers and it was her idea to visit once he was born. We both have been there for one another through it all and it hurts to know she isn’t there for me at such a difficult time in my life and has not even asked about her godson. I think our friendship is over. Anyone have any thoughts?

She is in wedding mode and she is probably all stressed with wedding plans. And since it's gonna be a destination wedding she has double planning to make sure the license and everything gets approved. She is being selfish but right now in her life she has a right to be. Sure she traveled for you but she can't be checking up on you and the child when she is packing and making sure her wedding goes off without a hitch.
I say let her have her wedding. Do what you need to do. Tell her you are sorry and didn't think this through week enough with how young your kid is and how bad pay pain has hit you so you're not gonna be traveling at this time. Tell her you hope she has a wonderful time but you won't be able to do it because you have to focus on you and then she has to focus on her. Doesn't mean your friendship is over just as long as she understands that... 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you can't make it you can't make it and if she doesn't understand that then you have to say I'm sorry.

I honestly think she probably expected her best friend and god son to show up to one of the biggest days of her life! I definitely think you should make more of an effort to go (if medically viable), especially if she offered to help financially. If I were in her position I’d probably be quite upset but I can also sympathise with your situation and understand not wanting to travel with Bub. Hope it all works out!

She was there for you multiple times. Why can’t you just be there for her for her big day?

How old is your baby? Honestly unless he’s a newborn I think you should make an effort to go since she’s your best friend and she even offered to help financially.

Personally my husband and I were asked to be godparents for our friends wedding in another country and I’m supposed to give birth less than 4 weeks before their wedding. I am a little anxious about it as there isn’t enough time even to get baby’s vaccinations but I think everything will be fine, baby will be glued to me the whole journey and at the wedding people won’t be allowed to touch him. It’s not our first baby and we travelled a lot with our first starting from 9 weeks. So unless there will be some sort of medical situation around the birth that would prevent us from travelling we will do everything we can to go

No the friendship is not over, remember she has her priorities right now that she's focused on.
If she is really important to you then you would do anything to make it happen for you to travel.
And it sux your partner won't support you by coming with you as a family

Unpopular opinion:

Ladies who have sex a few days/weeks after giving birth are only doing it for their men/to keep them happy/doing it in fear of them cheating & not because they are ACTUALLY ready or horny AND I'm 99.9% sure they don't fucking enjoy the experience either as their bodies are STILL recovering!!!

Love yourselves more ladies & stop letting your men guilt trip you into having sex & using your bodies as sex toys!
