Depends on what the laws are in you're area. In the UK the law states a child should be rear facing till at least 15 months. People will argue they have to be rear facing till 12 YEARS. It's just what works for you and you're family (along side the law). My little girl we started forward facing at 15 months as she would get soo travel sick rear facing. Like we'd barely leave the driveway before she'd be sick

Depending on your state you can forward face. But a lot of people rear face until they hit the max on height or weight. So if she’s still under those then she’s fine to rear face still

I would go by what the car seat manual says. From what I recall when my eldest was around that stage, there can be an overlap in the height/weight requirements for forward vs rear facing - so they're still safe to be rear facing but could also safely be forward facing. (Some people just like to have their children be forward facing as soon as they can)

My little one is two (she turned two last July)and we still install her car seat rear facing for as long as possible. But we’re in California. I would look at the laws in your state or country and make your decision from there or read your car seat’s manufacturer recommendations

Her feet being against the back of the seat isn’t a problem and likely isn’t uncomfortable for her because kids are much more flexible than adults.

Ideally we would all max out the rear facing limits of whatever car seat we have as that’s the safest. If you don’t have a compelling reason to forward face I would personally keep rear facing as long as possible! My almost 5 year old is still rear facing (and he’s super tall and still has several inches before he reaches the height limit).

It’s 5x safer to rear face regardless of the law, get a car seat that is extended rear facing 125cm/36kg which normally takes kids up to 6/7 my 3 year old is about 103cm and is still comfortably rear facing in an axxkid minikid 4, imo there’s not really an excuse not to extended rear face unless medical

Feet touching the seat isn't an issue

Feet touching the seat isn't an issue at all. My oldest was rear facing until almost 5. He just sat crosslegged- never complained about being uncomfortable. Rear facing is so much safer.

I’m in North Carolina and I turned my kids around before they even turn two because my kids is actually tall for their age so it’s all up to you. Don’t be scared. Just try it and if you don’t like it or your baby doesn’t like it, you can always turn her back around.

their spines are not developed enough to front face. mine is almost three, tall, long legs, she never complains about it being uncomfortable. she will be rear facing until she’s 5-6 probably 😂

Is this creating a bad habit

My son is 14 months old. He's ALWAYS hated the pram, since newborn. However, separation anxiety has peaked big time and now he just screams and cries in the pram... Unless we hold hands

Now, this is a difficult task when it's just me but if my partner is pushing I can walk beside and we hold hands. I'm not fussed about it but my partner thinks I'm giving in every time he cries and reaches out for me which is creating a bad habit.

My thought is one day he won't want to hold my hand🥺 he won't reach out for me so why would I deny the comfort he's searching for in that moment

Can someone reassure me that I'm not creating a bad habit.

Am I being irrational?

Just need opinions on if I’m being irrational about the safety of my 7 month old son. I’m a first time single mum. His dad is having knee reconstruction surgery and I’m worried about his visits during his recovery. He lives with his 75 year old mum, a dachshund who is a handful and had visits from his 13 year old daughter twice a week. They’re in a 3 story house, but he’s confirmed moved everything for our son downstairs. He will be on crutches and no idea how long recovery is, or when physio will start and has been very vague about everything regarding his recovery, saying the hospital hasn’t given him any information. So I arranged for health visitor to go and see what she thought. He kept saying his mum might be busy that day (she doesn’t get out as hip and knee mobility issues so I was suspicious of this). On the day of the visit where I wanted HV to see how his mum handled Harrison, she conveniently had a doctors appointment at the time of the visit, so she couldn’t check how she was lifting and carrying Harrison. He has told health visitor that his sister who attended the appointment will be helping during his recovery and that he would be out of action for the first week. When he dropped our son back, he said his sister works, so couldn’t be there all the time and that he wants him the first week. I have stood my ground and said we will be going by what you have told the health visitor. He’s also confirmed he will be on crutches. I’m just worried about our son’s safety with being dropped, or someone tripping over the dog, not getting to him in time if in danger or choking. I was told by him to “trust me” and painted as a controlling mum constantly. Just doesn’t feel right to “give in” and accept potentially he isn’t safe just to keep the peace 😔

Does anyone delay kids bedtimes when grandparents are over?

My in laws come over every Friday evening and so my husband doesn’t want to ruin their time with his parents so bedtime isn’t until 9/9.30pm. This is every week. Would you be ok with this? We have an almost 4 year old, 2.5 year old and 8 month old so it’s a tough juggle.

Lovely baby

My 7 week old daughter is an absolute dream, she doesn't cry (just shouts when she's hungry) very alert, happy and content, just an absolute pleasure to be around. Now I know how incredibly lucky I am with her but does any other mum with a similar baby struggle mentally? There's so many what ifs going through my mind and I'm scared to death she might change and start screaming, some days i feel sick with anxiety and nothing has actually happened? I'm driving myself crazy and scaring myself with thoughts of not being able to cope. I feel ridiculous because I know a lot of mums on here are seriously going through it and I have no idea how you manage xx
