Help :/ in delivery room with mom

My mother drove me to the hospital and we’ve been in my delivery room waiting these contractions out . when the nurse came in to check my cervix i asked for privacy and if i could get my cervix checked without witnesses and my mom got super upset . When i let her back in the room after i was covered she started lecturing me on how I’m not going to be making her leave and come back all the time and how she has a right to witness everything since we have the same lady parts and I’m her daughter. She said there’s no point in being here at the hospital if she can’t watch every moment (birth included) . I just wanted her support and for me to be able to feel safe in an intimate environment . I prefer to push the baby out without an audience so that i am not stressed by all the eyes on me but my mom thinks i am being selfish in taking this moment away from her . Idk what to do shes not speaking to me right now and the contractions are getting worse

Honestly if there were a day you should get your way it's today. If she's not prepared to support you in the way you want and be petty and immature she shouldn't have the privilege of being there.
It is her turn to take the high road not yours.

You can do it! 💪

I want to confort her but I’m in so much pain and i also don’t want to give in and make myself uncomfortable for her to get her way

Taking this moment away from HER!? Are you fucking kidding me! It is your body and your birth! If you don't want her there tell her to leave or ask your nurse to get her to leave

Avatar

She's taking the piss right? Does she watch your smear teats?! It is NOT HER EXPERIENCE! She's there to support you and make it the experience you want, not to stare ar your bits all bloody day.

Girl I would be BEYOND furious. You call the shots. Have a nurse remove her if needed. This is your birth, and anything that detracts from your mental peace and strength during this time is completely ridiculous, plus for her to try and guilt trip you about it? No.

Avatar

Omg this is NOT THE TIME, mom! 😣 honestly you do you. If it’ll 💔 if mom is upset then maybe just have her stay near your head.. or ask the nurse to make sure she’s staying by your head and if not, to have mom step out.. if you want to just not worry about her right now have the nurse escort her outside and y’all can sort things out later 💕 good luck!! Congrats!!

it’s about you! YOU are having the baby and you are what matters. she’s being selfish making this about herself. she’s allowed to be upset, but it’s not right of her to put this pressure on you when you’re so vulnerable. do what is right for you if she is willing to be so selfish she won’t accommodate you the day you’re giving birth, then that’s on her. she will only have herself to blame if she’s angry at the outcome

I’ve been in this exact situation!! When I had my first daughter my mom tried to get my husband out of the room and I stood my ground and had her removed from the room. It was hard but she eventually got over it. Over time Your mother will get over it. It’s your moment and your baby so you do what you feel is right. Also don’t forget that you’re the mother to this baby not her. But if you don’t want it then don’t let it. Xo 😘-A

Tell the nurses that you want your mom gone in a discreet way and the nurses will kick her out

Avatar

So she’s somehow managed to make YOU giving birth about HER? 🤯 I’d never speak to my mum again! Can only imagine the boundaries she’s gonna cross when baby is here. Get one of the midwives to kick her out.

Avatar

Its your body and your experience! However you want to do it sweetheart do it that way!

Avatar

🤣girl you are worried about the WRONG things. Mom is the LEAST of your worries. And NO she doesn't have a right to witness anything actually. She didn't put that baby there. You are a grown up. And this is absolutely supposed to be an intimate moment for you. If she wants to be upset in a time when you are currently in active labour then it just shows she is emotionally unintelligent. Stand your ground.

Avatar

Kick her out. This is your birth, not hers. How selfish

Avatar

Just tell her she's stressing you out and you don't need it you or the baby and it's what you want that matters not what anyone else wants especially self entitled mothers xx

Avatar

No. She doesn't have a right. It is your body and your baby. For some people, giving birth is a very private thing. If you don't want her in there, then she's not going to be in there. Don't think about how mad she is. You can think all about that later and you and her can talk it out at that time.

@Vanessa is LO here yet? Just curious how things ended with your mum? X

Avatar

i ended up inviting my aunt (moms older sister ) to come calm her down and keep her from stressing me and it worked ! My mom stopped complaining after my aunt talked to her in the waiting room . The only thing she yelled at me for was cursing while having contractions because i “need to watch my mouth” . I had the baby via emergency c section so nobody could be there anyways

Avatar

Aww congratulations, how are you finding things? Im glad you managed to snooth things over with your mum and quick thinking to get your aunt involved

No reassurance from my care team

Hi gals, I’m 34 weeks today and a ftm feeling like I have no reassurance from my care team at all… I went to see my midwife today and mind you the last bit of reassurance I had was at 19 weeks with an anatomy scan, my midwife had informed me more than once I won’t be sent for another scan unless I pay for a private one on my own

At 31 weeks my fundal height was measuring 32cm today I’m measuring 33cm that’s 1 cm difference between 3 weeks this would mean he’s now measuring under… why am I the only one concerned about this? I don’t know if he’s big or small anything haven’t seen him on ultrasound for weeks I’ve had no reassurance that’s he’s growing okay and that my body is doing the right thing for him I was also informed I’m high risk for pre eclampsia I’m on a low dose of aspirin until 36 weeks every appointment they don’t test my urine for protein to check and I go into labour n delivery with concerns and symptoms of pre eclampsia they shut me down tell me it’s acid reflux and send me home every time… has anyone’s antenatal care experience been similar?? I feel so not reassured and under cared for? I’m worried about little man’s growth.

Sex!

Me and my husband are TTC. Sometimes after sex i have noticable drippage but other times, nothing noticeable at all but he says he finished inside. Usually aswell i notice more on the first fay of sex then little to none as it goes on if we had sex multiple days in a row. Im worrying , does that mean he didnt finish ? He says he did. I was wanting to ask, do you ladies always feel drippage? Or sometimes not? Im getting stressed out about it and a little disheartened x thanks so much
