Pumps

What do y’all do with your pump parts after pumping? Do you rinse them off, wash them, or wash and sanitize? Specifically if you exclusively pump or are pumping at work. I don’t pump often but I’m going to be going back to work soon and will be pumping at work. I’m also pumping more often to build a stash. Not sure if I should wash with soap after every use or just rinse it out. How often do y’all sanitize? I’ve been sanitizing once a day.

it isn't recommended to do that but I've been doing that even before going back to work 🤷‍♀️ everything seems fine. I pump like 3 or 4 times that way

I use the fridge hack. Keep my parts in the fridge for up to 24 hours (ends up being 2-3 pumps since I'm not back at work yet). The CDC doesn't advise storing in the fridge if you are able to wash parts, but I just don't have time to wash parts so often. I barely get them washed as is.
I only sanitized before first use. Just hot water and soap when I wash after that. If you're going to leave parts out and about, definitely wash with soap and water.

Is it ever ok to just rinse them out with water?

@Sierra no that increases the risk for bacteria, while the fridge Hack isn't recommended you would be better trying that or I suggest getting extra pump parts also!

@Sierra You can rinse with just water before putting it in the fridge if you really want, but if you're not careful and/or your water source isn't clean, then you've just introduced me bacteria. Just rinsing, though, is not cleaning. It's the friction and soap that removes bacteria, dirt, and milk fats.

I fridge hack and wash every 24 hours. I also have at least 2 sets of pump parts to rotate through and have replacement parts on hand as needed. I am exclusively pumping so I go through parts quickly. CDC says no need to sanitize so I only do that about once per week.

me either! It's a total pain. Although I am lucky to need different sized flanges so I can use one set during the day and one set at night. Definitely more convenient... especially now that I'm back at work. Makes life easier

fridge hack for sure. just make sure you sanitize the area you will place pump parts and wash hands bc that’s what causes the bacterial growth.

I have 2 sets of pump parts. I wash it after every use with soap and water. But I don't sanitize every time. I sanitized before the first use as mentioned.

I wash my parts every time after use at work. Better safe than sorry.

My LO every feed. Drs don’t seem to think it’s a problem the whole Muslim cloth gets soaked so much I’m using towels now. I’ve tried size O teats he gets really frustrated and still spills it out :(

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

My seven year old

Is out of control. Her dad and I share 50/50 and when she comes to my house she is so mean. And idk what to do

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
