So am 27+4 today and had my Midwife appt. They said, the baby is measuring small and I will need to get my scans to check baby's growth.
Am really worried. Has anyone been to there scans to check baby's growth and were told that the baby is growing okay?
Or what do they do if the baby is actually smaller than usual?
Thanks x

This happened to my sister… she ended up being induced at 35 weeks. My nephew is perfectly healthy!

I am 28+4, my fundal height was 2 cm small than expected,my baby is measuring small aswell which is confirmed in a growth scan, my amniotic fluid Is just adequate, so they asked me to drink 3-4 liters of water, eat well. To rule out they asked me to get thyroid and Glucose tolerance test, glucose is fine, but thyroid is little high so they put me on medication, I am in India. If in London ask your midwife that you want to get other stuff checked aswell. Don't panic, just follow advice of midwife and GP as instructed.
Baby size also depends on how petite or tall or strong built you both partners are. unless you ask midwife for tests in UK they won't book tests. Baby will be fine 🥰

Hey, thanks. This was really helpful to know. And I am quite petite to start with, so it could be that. Fingers crossed 🤞
Not sure what sort of tests do i need to ask the midwife for? Any specific one's that you know pls?
I had my GTT yesterday and the reports came fine.

I got a test done today itself called AFI, it's a scan to measure amniotic fluid. It came out to be just adequate 8.6, can improve so that the baby will move comfortably and movements help in growth itseems. If you are booked for a growth scan already then don't worry they will check amniotic fluid aswell.

did they tell her why the baby was measuring small?

They said my first baby was small all the way through and he was born 9lbs 1oz 😂this baby again they’re saying she is small so idk 🤷🏽♀️

I’ve got the opposite, my baby is measuring very big and so will have follow up scans every 3-4 weeks and then if still big by 37 weeks make a birth plan which may involve a planned c-section or induction to prevent him from getting too big by 40 weeks. Someone’s baby has to be big and someone’s small, and there’s usually very little we can do about it so I would try not to worry, knowing you’ll be looked after by your team :)

Sorry… just seeing this. Her placenta wasn’t functioning properly and as a result, he wasn’t getting sufficient nourishment. He was a tiny little thing but he makes up for it in energy today. He’s like a machine now 😂🤣😂🤣 … I have to beg for him to give me a break!
