My toddler is in her hitting and kicking phase. I’m losing my mind. I redirect her. I tell her we don’t hit people it hurts mommy. I give her something else to hit. I remove her from the situation. All she does is laugh and run around like nothing happened. Today she gave me a bloody lip after hours and hours of meltdowns, tantrums and bursts of endless energy. I broke down. She’s literally out of control and I don’t know what to do anymore. How do I get her to stop hitting me and also thinking its funny.

With my son, I immediately stopped everything (turn off the TV, put toys to the side, etc) whenever he hit me. Held onto him firmly, looked him in the eye, and in a serious tone said no hitting/kicking.
The abrupt stop of the activity always caught his attention. Afterwards, I would demonstrate a “nice touch” before resuming our activity.
Good luck. I know that this is hard. Just remember that our Littles don’t mean to hurt us and they don’t have the same level of self-control as we do.
