We are travelling to Funchal for 5 nights with our baby when she will be nearly 10 months old. It’s about 4 hour flight from U.K. and will be 18-20 degrees hot.
As she will be on our lap in the flight, do we need to carry a pillow or cushion (will it help with her nodding off or should we just let her sleep on our laps?) thinking of getting any inflatable cushion or just a normal cushion if anyone suggests it’s helpful.
Other things that I am thinking of are (barring the essentials like formula, diaper, toys etc.)
Snoozeshade
Travel buggy (any recommendations will be appreciated for a cheap stroller)
Pool floats & swimwear
Stroller fan
Sound machine
Any other items that has made your trip super memorable or easier? Please drop a comment if I have missed anything xx

So we have a baby that never contact naps at all (7 months) and we just took him on his first flight yesterday which coincided with nap time, he put up a bit of a grizzle but I put the window shades down turned towards the window so he was less distracted and draped a muslin over his head which he loves anyways as he uses one as a comforter. We only got 2 30 min naps but I was pleasantly surprised! The hum of the aeroplane definitely helps!
The joiei travel stroller £85 in John Lewis is an absolute game changer, so light and easy to steer one handed!
I would say some toys for home comfort and we’ve found it very helpful taking a thick blanket/rug to put down on the floor so he still has space to play as he hates being on laps too long!
And a mini portable fan if it’s going to be hot
Thanks our baby doesn’t like contact naps either but totally agree on the airplane noise which could be helpful.
Glad you recommended that stroller that’s on my wish list! Now am confident to make the purchase.
Good point on the thick blanket/rug as she loves being on floor x
