Stress

Is anyone else’s husband stressing about pumping on schedule and trying different things while your baby is in the nicu? It’s hard for me to wake up to my alarms I have set and the nurses don’t help with waking me up either. He wants him strictly on breast milk but it’s like I’m playing catch up with my sons feeding schedule, and then he wants me to bring up to the nurses, NP, and doc about in demand feeding trial, but they aren’t considering it either. I’m just very worn out and feeling down mentally.

We do, but they stop giving those in the nicu donated breast milk around 32 weeks and he’s currently 39 weeks and 1 day.

I’m at that point because I’m so mentally exhausted and with him being frustrated with this nicu, it doesn’t make it any easier.

I'm sure formula will get the job done since baby is 39 weeks now, unless I'm wrong.

I understand your husband means well and I’m sure he has your babies best interests at heart but to be completely honest I don’t feel it’s his place to dictate that he’s strictly on breast milk. I think you should let him know now you’re feeling, he might not know how physically exhausting producing milk is. Especially if you’re dealing with other stresses. Combi feeding allows you a break and your baby will still get all the benefits from your breast milk, hopefully your husband can see it doesn’t have to be all or nothing ❤️

Agree with Isobel. If he wants to pressure you he should also provide all the support for you like wake up with you to wake you up to pump and he can talk to the doctors if he wants something said to them. Doesn't have to give you work to do when he could do it himself (if you are both on board). Hope you get some rest soon! Take care, sounds like you're doing a great job!

My bub was in the nicu aswell, its so mentally hard on parents, especially mums having to pump without a bub crying etc. I just did what I could. The nurses would wake me every four hours or so but it was getting so tiresome. So some nights I'd do it every six instead. Bubs still latched day 4 and I was able feed when I visited. There is light at the end of the tunnel its just so hard during it. Make sure to go easy on yourself

Am sorry you're bub is in nicu and pray for a fast full recovery. I hated bf and just did 3 months and switched to combination feeding and full formula. However my partner was such stress about fully bf because he thinks only breastfeeding milk is worth it. And obviously men don't understand anything about how hard bf is and they cbf about it. He was helpful as he cooked healthy meals for me and such but bf is just not for me. It's unfortunate your nurses aren't supporting you as needed in such a stressful environment. However I'd suggest you be firm with your husband about your fears and feelings on bf because only you know how hard it is and only you can make this decisions not him. And not when he's gonna just stress you on it and not assist with it. Formula works just fine if not better. Or combination feeding. They're heart is in the right place but they don't understand anything and if you want your sanity then you have to redirect their energy elsewhere. Perhaps try expressing and get him to feed while

You rest?? Also get him to write down all his concerns and questions and he can ask those questions himself and understand things himself. Because he'll never believe what you say. Myself am a nurse and my partner acted like he knows it all. I'd just tell him mate am not arguing with you on things I know myself. Just talk to the medical team yourself. They also don't wanna do things themselves so then tell him to leave it alone because you decide what's best as mama. Be firm from the beginning otherwise you'll be a nervous stressed wreck brought on by him. I hope I don't come off as this or that negatively.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
