Breastfeeding Help

So when you are breast feeding, do you really have to wake up every 3 hours to feed them? Or do you wait until they wake up to feed them? I am so confused and exhausted.

At the beginning I did once I was in the 3 weeks I wait until baby wake up. If you pump you can do that also.

In the beginning, you wake them up to feed them every 3 hours. Then, once they're gaining weight steadily, its okay for them to wake up to feed. If you're unsure, Doctors can clear them from being woken up based on growth.

In the beginning, yes. Or you could lose your supply. Hopefully, your body and baby get on the same schedule. Otherwise, you'll have to keep it up with pumping. My daughter was a terrible latcher, which means I had to wake up every 3 hours for about 3 months to pump to try and keep up my supply. We ended up switching to formula because I had to be on antibiotics for an infection, and it totally died up my supply. I was sad but it was also such a weight lifted because I didn't have to worry about pumping or my supply.

You should be feeding every 3 hours until they gain back their birth weight. I follow the Taking Cara Babies sleep course which recommends feeding every 3 hours during the day and then feeding on demand during the night. The frequent daytime feedings should help baby be full at night and wake less frequently

I only did that the first week at her checkup she was over her birth weight so just fed on demand/when she woke

I've fed to demand since he was born and he has been more than fine weight wise and has had plenty of nappies. I don't wake him up just feed when he is ready

let the baby sleep and just feed on demand x

Feed on demand, unless baby isn't back up to birth weight yet but if they're that young I'm surprised they aren't waking to eat themselves x

It depends on your baby. How old is your baby? Did they gain birth weight by 2 weeks? Do they gain weight at least 500g per month? Do they have history of losing weight? Do they feed well during the day and evening before the sleep?

Depending on their age and answers to the above questions, you can let them sleep 4,5,6 or more hours without a feed. Babies can sleep through the hunger feeling

Nope, fed on demand for both

My son at every 2 hours. He didn’t latch well so I had to pump every 2 hours and then every 3 hours, 30 min each time. Once you hit 12 weeks your supply is regulated but you can still lose it if you’re not removing milk effectively. Breastfed babies are fed on demand and most eat about every 2-3 hours but there are some babies who like to nurse more or just for comfort. Look for babies hunger cues and fed when you see them ☺️

You wake up and feed until they pass their birth weight then you can wait for baby to wake up

I only fed on demand for all 3 of my babies but they always woke every 1-4 hours. My 8 month old still wakes up to nurse several times a night.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Struggling in the 4 month regression

How are people getting out of the 4 month regression? I’ve been looking it up and it says I need to be trying to put him down drowsy but awake but this does not work for my LO. Every time we do this he ends up being wide awake and after almost an hour of trying we have to contact nap/rock to sleep. I want to avoid rocking to sleep because now when he wakes up in the night he needs to be rocked back to sleep which he never used to need.

Nights are constantly broken because we are up 2-3 times to rock him back to sleep. Please give me your tips on how to survive this and how to get out of this!! Constantly feel like I’m failing and doing something wrong
