39 week induction

I will be induced early and I get mixed advice especially by older generations but i have everything will be okay!

They want to induce me at 39 weeks but from what I read, many many inductions end up in emergency c-sections and since I’m of an older age (over 40) and I’m quite petite I expect labor will be hard, even if induced, so I’ve decided to skip the whole thing and go straight to elective c-section. At least I know it will happen on my terms, at a date and time I choose and that I will feel no pain.

You often need an epidural with induction because pitocin makes it hurt more than normally, so if you were trying to avoid that, something to consider. Also, what interventions would your doctor do if the induction wasn’t progressing? Can they do fewer cervical checks to minimize infection?

This is my first baby andy doctor's are inducing me in-between 37- 38 weeks. I've had high blood pressure before pregnancy.

Cons: induction can sometimes make labor alot longer. Statistically (from what I've found) being induced increases your risk of interventions (epidural, assisteddelivery as in the use of forceps, etc, c sections). Pros: you can plan your birth and prepare yourself alot easier. Just because there is an increased risk of the above, doesn't mean it'll happen. You seem to be high risk, so induction may prevent complications to you and baby 💕 but really, I would ask your doctor more about pros and cons. It's required for you to be informed by them

That’s odd I’m type 2 diabetic and I’ve been induced at 37 weeks with both of mine my next is Oct 12th I’ll be 37 exactly typically they don’t let anyone go over that. But I haven’t had a bad experience. I like it cause it’s all planned I don’t think there’s any cons for me .
