Hi, wondering if anyone can offer any advice/tips!
I have a 7 week old baby and while I love breastfeeding, I hate feeding on demand! Did it successfully with my older child until 13 months but finding it really hard this time around, because I don’t have the luxury of just staying on the sofa all day and being led by baby like last time, as my toddler causes carnage 😂 there’s still absolutely no pattern to feeds, and I feel rubbish at reading cues, because he also likes to feed to sleep, so will often ‘snack’ then fall asleep, then want more as soon as he wakes up again.
I know feeding on a schedule is really not recommended, but I also can’t feed every hour all day long because it’s driving me mad! I know he can do longer because he does 2.5-5 hour stints overnight. Help?!

7 weeks old is just too young to have a schedule.. my baby used to sleep 4-5 hours in the night when she was 7-8 weeks old but still would require to be fed frequently during the day. She is 4 months old now and she needs a feed every 3-3.5 hours now.

My boy used to be such a lazy feeder. He’d feed for around 10 minutes then fall asleep on the boob. An hour later he was screaming again for more. I started to pump and introduced a bottle and he’d guzzle the whole 4-5oz and then not want any more for Atleast 3 hours, mainly he’ll go to 4 hours. When I do feed him on the boob now he has longer feeds as I think he’s got used to having a fuller belly. Then he’ll doze off very happily for around 4 hours. He’s 5 weeks now. Every now and again he’ll wake up after an hour or two and just want a bit of comfort feeding on the boob, 5 mins and he’s back down for a couple of hours. It’s made everything a lot easier for us x

You can totally do a schedule. That schedule still might be every couple hours but you can totally do it. We had to use bottles and formula and I think my son fed every 2 hours so start doing that and see how it goes. It might need to be more frequent or might need to be more time inbetween. But you can totally starts doing a schedule
