High temp at night help 😫

My little one is nearly 15 months old and she just started nursery the last two weeks. She came home today and I can see she’s not feeling well at all. High temp so I gave her calpol twice but now she’s woken up again at night and she’s like boiling hot and upset. Any mums awake right now able to give some advice on what to do? She’s never really had a temp at night?

My daughter has had temperature for a few nights as well and has been crying a lot so I took her to doctors and they said it’s viral infection and go just give her Calpol for 5 days. I hope your little one feels better soon.

Hi! Bless you all - nursery germs are no picnic. We find that regular Calpol and Nurofen during the day keeps out baby’s temp down overnight if he’s poorly. We have occasionally had to strip him down to his nappy and offer him water if he’s really sweaty and unhappy in the night. But I mainly came to say that even though you might feel like it’s never ending illness for weeks on end with nursery, I promise it does get better. Our boy started back in July and we’ve just had two whole weeks without any illness in the household and it’s been bliss. Hang in there 🥰

it’s just so hard to see little ones upset and you feel bit useless because they can’t tell you at a young age what happened. Probably will take her docs today! Thanks

I’ve never given nurofen. I had to make a choice last night to give calpol again. Everyone warned me about nursery germs and I expected it but I just can’t help myself feeling low about not doing my best. She was crying and she can’t tell me what happened because she’s so young. I’m trying my best!

I literally could of wrote this. My lo started nursery 2 weeks ago and we have a viral illness and I thought she was feeling slightly better but at night we are still spiking temps. She gets really hot, sad and stands in her cot not knowing what to do with herself. This started a week ago! I’ve heard about Nursery illness but wasn’t expecting them to come this early and with such force. We have snot, temp, gunky eyes and a cough bless her! I’m sorry that’s not much help I’m just letting you know we are in the exact same boat 🫠 x

Of course you’re doing your best for your baby! Wouldn’t have doubted that for a second 😊 Hope you’ve had a better night!

yeh the doc said to me she has a viral infection (discussed via the phone) - how are you coping? Is your little one drinking milk? My ones not touched her milk since Thursday evening 🥺

Avatar

I did have a better night but I’m just so worried about her food intake and liquid intake. I’m trying to give as much liquid but I feel she’s not drinking much. She’s not touched her milk for a few days now

So at the moment she is refusing solids but is drinking to some extent but we just broke 2 molars too on top of her virus 🥺 it’s so hard isn’t it! X

We have had that this week too. We have a digital ear thermometer and ended up ringing 111 last Sunday night and they told us to take him into hospital. He went from being absolutely fine Sunday at a christening to suddenly burning up and by the evening was over 40c and barking coughing. The hospital gave steroids for the croup and medications to bring the temp down which they just said was viral infection as couldn't find a reason for it and told us to treat with calpol unless he went so high again. He then tested positive a few days later for covid so it was clearly what had been causing the high temps. This time of year lots of bugs start going around too.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
