So I’ve just been diagnosed with postnatal depression, it’s taken me 5 months to feel like I can contact the drs for help.
Unfortunately due to my partners dickhead of an ex we’ve had social services involved with his child (we’ve had to report her boyfriend for assaulting his kid for her to then turn around and say my partner did the same- he didn’t and all had been sorted) instead of maybe giving me a hug that I could’ve done with he just turned around and say they are going to get back involved with our child.
I’ve made it clear to the gp that I have no intentions of harming my child that I’m just not okay within myself
Have I done the right thing? I just feel more depressed and stupid

You have absolutely done the right thing!!
Through fear; your partner is being selfish. PND is horrible, and without the correct help can spiral ❤️

You have 100% done the right thing ❤️ well done for being brave and having the courage to get some help, it takes a lot to do that. Be kind to yourself, you’re doing everything right 🥰
thank you 🥹 I understand why he feels like that because when they were involved they made us feel like shit for reporting a safeguarding issue and then praised his ex for when she falsely accused him! I do honestly think he hasn’t been the most supportive which has likely contributed to how I feel. Just a nice I’m here for you would do

I feel for you, lack of support/empathy when you’ve got PND is awful. Its good you’ve reached out on here too. When I had PND I found it really comforting to know other people had felt what I was feeling 🥰
it’s like I feel guilty enough and your meant to be my person but it doesn’t feel like that at the moment. Instead of telling me to go for a walk how about you listen to me properly 😖 it is comforting that other people have felt the same xx

You have absolutely done the right thing!!!
You need the support so YOU can be the best version of yourself
🥹🥹 thank you so much for your kind words it’s so greatly appreciated 🥰

Also; if social services do become involved (not likely based on what you’re saying) then trust me when I say they’re there to support you and help you not to make life harder or take your kids away! They’re there to support..
So it really isn’t a reason not to go and get the help you need!!
He’s being selfish because he’s feeling vulnerable due to what’s happened
I’d hope so but considering our past interaction with them I wouldn’t trust them as they infact my our life harder and made a hard time even harder, sadly that was our experience with them x
