Weird or not ?

I have noticed that each time we go over my in-laws house they always have a new toy in the box waiting for her and they also give her money ($10) we are grateful for anything our families get her ofc but with them ofc she gets to keep the money but the new toys she gets each time have to stay over there , but yet when my in-laws come to visit us they come empty handed they don’t bring her anything and they don’t give her the 10$ they always give her when we take her over … my mil is a master manipulator like Fr fr and I can’t help but feel like since she can’t control my husband anymore she’s trying to do that to my daughter now … am I tripping ?
I’d like to think it’s coming from a good place but the tough of it makes me feel icky af

Oooof. I do not like that. At least with the toy there’s an excuse (probably something along the lines of “we just want her to have toys here so that she has something to do here when she visits”) but the cash seems like straight up manipulation. I would definitely bring it up. “You probably don’t intend to manipulate her feelings but the fact is whether intentional or not it will make her want to see you more at your place rather than her seeing you at our place. Whether intended or not I do not appreciate that manipulation. If you really would like to do something good please give that money to her savings account. If you would rather give her pocket money for spending it will not be tied to visits.”

I don’t think that’s weird to be honest, it’s nice little one will have things there to play with. I also wouldn’t expect them to come with anything if they’re buying toys quite often x

Someone is definitely trying to condition your kiddo. I don't think it would bug me, it's kinda smart to try to elicite good emotions regarding her home. It's a little extreme, but it's not bad to want her grand baby to be excited to be at their house. You can just see it as her helping to develop fond memories there. Now, if there was a few other things related to control, I'd think more into it. But otherwise happy someone cares about my kiddo this much.

My husband and I always have a box of toys available for my 3 nephews which we regularly add to, never any expensive toys though, just cheap small things. We do this purely due to the fact that my SIL never brings any toys when they visit, so the boys get bored. Also I love them and want them to have nice things whilst in my care/visiting me! I don't see anything suspect about the toys, the money one maybe? But I often used to get money when I visited my grandparents as a child so I don't really think it's weird 🤷‍♀️

I think its manipulation, especially if she's like that to begin with, she may be doing something "nice" on the outside but it's not nice she knows what she's doing and she's eliciting strong emotional responses when all the "good" things are happening over there to make her want to go over more just for toys and money, it would be one thing if they were just giving people but they're not gifting anything for your place whatsoever, only there's, definitely weird to me

The toys part seems fine to me. Gives the little one something to be excited for when visiting. The cash, I'm iffy on that. When I was growing up, my grandparents/great grandparents started to give us small bits of change, maybe a dollar here and there. With the intention of us putting it directly into our piggy banks. I know inflation is a thing, but $10 is a bit excessive to me.

It sounds okay until you say she’s a manipulator. If she is, then I would be curious about her intentions. I wonder how far she will go down the line.

it’s not working she don’t ever ask for her or to go to her house 🥴
My side of the family has spent more time with her and she asks for them everyday , she knows that to because my daughter talks about them while at her house and she don’t like it

I was given money by my grandparents at their home and mine but not always just randomly

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?
