I gave birth on Monday and had stitches for a 2nd degree tear. The stinging when weeing today has been tear inducing, after a pretty good day yesterday. The pain subsides after a couple of minutes so I'm not really concerned about them being infected, but just wondering how long it took for others stitches to stop hurting? I feel like I have to strategically plan having a wee at the moment because it takes so long for me to sort myself out.

I'm a week pp and still have pain from my stitches...drinking plenty of water helps and also I found a peri bottle a godsend and squirting lukewarm water at the same time a good relief

I'm 3 weeks pp but when I had to pee after giving birth it stung so bad and I didn't even need stitches but a peri bottle for me was a life saver

i’m nearly 4 weeks PP with an episiotomy and a 3rd degree tear, still stings to pee a lil and have my hood and bad days when sitting, hoping to heal by week 6, it’s just a long recovery but normal 🫶🏼

I had stitches for a 2nd degree labial tear and honestly a week in it was so so painful, tear inducing as you say. I'm now 2 weeks on and it's got loads better in the last few days. I would say the worst pain was days 5-8. They did swab for an infection when I had my 5 day check but fortunately that came back clear.
My midwife recommended lemon and barley water (Robinson's squash) and I really do feel that made a difference, I started drinking a few glasses every day and it definitely took the edge of the stinging. I also squirted warm water as I weed which helped a bit.
I really feel your pain but it will get better soon! X

I had 2nd degree tear and first few days definitely sting and hurt badly, but lucky me my stitches is all healed now at day 15.
I used sitz bath twice a day with warm water and poured salt init, it definitely helps to heal stitches on time

same here. Drink plenty to make the wee less acidic which will sting less and the peri bottle is the best thing I purchased PP!

I had this as well, the stinging was unreal! It was recommended to me to get a jug of warm water and pour it over your bits as you are having a wee, it's a bit awkward to do but it really did help!

I bought aloe Vera gel and put it on my maternity pad, it’s cooling and can take the pain away. Also used witch hazel on the pad! Use baby wipes not toilet roll xxx
