Whats everyone’s opinion on mobiles around newborns/babies?
Whilst my 10 week old is sleeping downstairs I use YouTube on my phone for shushing sounds and white noise and put it either at the bottom of the crib or on the chair next to his Moses basket.
My dad came to visit today whilst it was playing and he started ranting about radiation and how it’s so so bad for him…?? It is really that bad? Or has my dad got his tinfoil hat on again?

From the FDA...
Cell phones emit low levels of non-ionizing radiation when in use. The type of radiation emitted by cell phones is also referred to as radio frequency (RF) energy. As stated by the National Cancer Institute, "there is currently no consistent evidence that non-ionizing radiation increases cancer risk in humans.

I have done the same as you, use YouTube for white noise.
I doubt that the little radiation from your phone/tablet is bad. If it was something to be concerned about, I’m sure we would be told not to use our phones while we are pregnant, as that’s the worse risk because their cells are developing and dividing.

If we listened to everything we wouldn’t do nothing!
Baby is fine 🥰

France did just temporarily recall the iPhone 12 due to radiation levels. That may be what sparked your dad’s concern?
I like the YouTube shushing video too! I turn the volume a little higher and have my laptop or phone further from the crib.
Honestly though, this generation are all going to be using iPads etc at school, so it’s pretty unavoidable…

It does suggest that they should be kept at least a meter away from us adults and avoided in children under 10 as can damage brain cells.
I hate it but it is hard to avoid now! 😞

Also you can get special lamps in your home to help reduce the ions if you're worried.

I do the same as you, we have sleep sounds, we do nursery rhymes when he’s awake and he even plays on my phone 🙈
