I'm going down a rabbit hole and spiraling.. I've been strictly BF since day 1. There's not been any issues until her 4 month check-up where my baby has only gained (almost) 2 lbs since her 2 month check up.. she went from the 50th percentile to the 3rd, and the more research I'm doing, the more I want to start crying.. when do i know when to take her in?? I'm giving her more.. and pumping every 2 hours to keep up... I'm just concerned it's not enough.. any advice would be 100% helpful and good vibes appreciated please. Pic because she's adorable

If she is 4 months and able to sit up with help, you can also start baby food. Maybe adding some solids to her diet will help. Was her pediatrician concerned?

I'm in the same boat. My daughter didn't even gain a lb between the 2 month and 4 month checkup. But she dropped from the 86rd percentile to the 43rd percentile. My doctor just recommended to add an additional feeding during the day and have her try to eat more during each feeding. Not sure I have much advice yet though. Just found this out yesterday.

I'm glad I'm not the only one 😭😭😭

What's BF

breastfeeding

Have you ever worked with a lactation consultant? Mine came to our house and did weighted feeds, which was helpful and reassuring. I've also found drinking Body Armour Lyte daily helps me stay hydrated enough for the demands of BF.

Sorry mama, it is stressful but try to stay positive. Baby girl looks healthy & well but what did she weigh at the last appointment? It might be within the average for a 4-month old.

She weighed 11 lbs 5 oz at her 2 months and 12 lbs 4 oz at her 4 month check

i haven't. I think I'm going to call one on monday!

Baby rice in the bottle with the milk

I started my baby at 4 months with solids 1 veggie at a time for 3 days then introduced another one for 3 days then mixed them for the 7th day. She was always hungry , I was BF & formula feeding and she always looked like she was still hungry. I personally at first since she was 4 months I just added the veggies I made in her milk I blended it well. Started with 1once then slowly increased it. Until I finally started feeding her with a spoon at 6 months.
By 6 months start with actual solids so they get used to it. My baby is going to be 14 months and still only eating puréed food 🥲 don’t wait like I did 😭

So, I'm a bit concerned for my 4 month appointment because of this reason. She was 12lbs at 2 months and on September 28 when I had to take her in for other reasons, she was 13lbs 3.2 oz. At the time the doctor wasn't concerned but she has only gained maybe a couple ounces since then! She has been spitting up a lot which I believe was because she was sick. But I'm afraid she'll only weigh 13lbs 5oz or so, and she eats between 24-30 oz daily as suggested by him 🤷♀️ breast milk fed.

there's no nutritional value to that it just makes them fuller so they don't eat as much.

My baby weight 12 lb at her 4 month also only gaining 2 lb since 2 month and my pediatrician didn’t voice any concern at all. Baby is only 16th percentile weight. She is healthy and growing and eating plenty and has good diapers as well as hitting all her milestones. Maybe call you ped and see if there is really any reason to be concerned?

@Jami-Diane i have a message out to her. I'm hoping to hear back on Monday.

Baby rice in bottles it will make her gain weight

I saw the recommendation of a lactation consultant to do weighted feeds which is great advice! You can also do it yourself in the meantime while waiting for an appointment if you get a scale! Weigh baby before the feed in kg or g (whatever the scale has) you preferably want grams but it’s easily converted from kg. Then feed the baby like normal until baby is done. Then weigh baby again (just make sure not to change diaper or anything in between). Then take the difference between the two and that’s how many mLs the baby drank. I had to do this because my baby wasn’t transferring enough milk from my breast. We went to see lactation almost every week until 3 months. Feel free to message me if you end up doing it yourself and need help with the calculations!!

I believe their weight gain does start to slow down. My girl only gained 2.5 pounds since her two month appointment and she’s been doing well eating and having plenty of diapers.
If you are nursing her I would just stick with that and not worry about pumping unless she sleeps long at night. Let her get everything from the breast. If only pumping or pumping while away keep doing every two hours and try not to stress. Sounds like you are doing everything you can and babe is eating what she should. I went through weight issues with my first and it was stressful at times but she’s a happy and healthy toddler now. It gets easier 💛

She’s adorable!!!!!
I was told not to worry unless baby is lethargic, not wetting enough diapers or gas a sunken fontanella.
Mine is 1st percentile 🫣
