Ppd/rage

I’m really struggling. I have a 2 year old and 5.5 month old boys. I find myself getting very upset over small things, like today, my baby didn’t want to take his nap and was up for 4 hours instead of his usual 2. So I decide we are going for a drive so he’ll fall asleep. I get myself ready, get baby ready. Go to get my toddler ready and of course he’s being silly and isn’t listening that’s what toddlers do. He starts throwing himself around on the couch while I’m trying to get his pants on and slides so far down he falls and bangs his head on the floor. So now he’s screaming, I’m yelling at him because “I told you to lay down so I could get you dressed!” Not even acknowledging the fact that he was hurt and in distress. My baby has been crying the entire time I’m trying to get my toddler ready.
I say screw it we aren’t leaving the house anymore. I run outside and turn off the car, slam my car door. Come inside, slam the front door, I’m fuming (and why?) My toddler is still crying. I try to console him. I say do you wanna go lay down for your nap? He says noooo, eat so I go into the kitchen and open the cupboard and fridge and say here’s food pick what you want and stop crying.
Fast forward to all 3 of us bawling, I finally get my baby asleep. Now I’m sitting here writing this, nap trapped in my bed with my baby asleep in my arms and my toddler afraid of me and hiding in the living room watching tv.
I feel like the most awful mom. I love my boys so much. But why do I get like this sometimes? Why do some things make me so upset? Could it be postpartum depression? Please no harsh comments. I KNOW the way I handled everything was completely wrong and I’m going to apologize to my toddler.
If you made it this far thank you so much. I really need some advice and help

6 months PP with my first baby! And I definitely struggle with getting angry at little things all the time. Mostly things that could wake my daughter up from a nap or sleeping. I think I'm so desperate to have some me time that if someone ruins it I get mad. You're doing great though Mama. Some days are harder than others. It can be quite frustrating when you have a plan in your head and it doesn't go the way you thought. Just step back and breathe. I think learning to adapt has been one of the hardest things for me. When you have kids you never know what to expect. It will be okay though.

Are you able to sleep enough? Do you have some help? Do you ever get a break?
Sounds to me like you are exhausted. If I was taking care of my baby on my own non stop I would go crazy. And I do not have a toddler, just one good, happy baby,

PP rage is actually very normal and a symptom of PPA. I highly recommend talking with your doctor, this was one of my main symptoms of PPA (didn’t have PPD) and a small dosage of Zoloft has been life changing for me. You don’t have to feel this way!

Mom of 3 here. I didn’t realize what it was with my first until way down the road. I immediately talked with my OB during both of my subsequent pregnancies and post deliveries.

I understand, trust me. I struggled with PPD when I first had my son, who is almost 7 months old now. It was the first baby I'd ever been around, held, taken care of, and I didn't know just HOW stressful it'd be. I remember yelling, "Dude! Please stop!" Half awake when he was a newborn. Things have gotten a lot better as I've become more patient. I have a history of depression and anxiety, so it definitely heightened when he was born. Seek affordable help, or if you have state insurance, that's even better! You can talk to your OB, primary care provider, or even your son's pediatrician about how you're feeling, and they can recommend some places. You're not alone! Just try to give yourself and your kiddos more grace.

I’m in same boat, I have a 6 year with adhd , a 4 year old , and 4 month old and I get angry so easily lately and then I feel guilty and sad

I’m not able to leave my baby though :/ he’s 5.5 months old breastfed and refuses bottles. We’ve tried 7 different ones and he won’t take any whether it has breastmilk or formula

you hit the nail on the head. I’ve been up and down over 20 times A NIGHT with him for the past 3 weeks because he’s cutting teeth and needs comforted. I don’t get a break from him at all not even at night because of his constant wakings. My husband is on call for work so from sun up to sun down (and throughout the night) baby is my responsibility so literally 24/7. I’ve fed him his whole life (breastfed) never had a bottle, won’t take one. I am absolutely exhausted. Tired of doing it all alone. Ready for something to give.

I am in the same boat.. mama I feel your struggle. 😪. My 6 month old never took a bottle or pacifier.. she’s always on me so I can feed her. I have 6 year old who is a bit helpful but I always get angry at her when my 6 month old is crying and then I feel so sad about it. There’s been multiple times that I have apologized to my 6 year old. My husband work almost all day so I’m with the kids 24/7.. never get a break. It’s really hard. I tend to forget what I’m doing at times or what i need to do.
When my doctor asks me if I PPD I say no.. but in reality I’m going through so much & need help. If you like you could message me & we can talk and let everything out that you need to..

I've finally done it

I have finally done it. I have finally become the trope, the stereotype.

I have become bitter, resentful, and very overwhelmed and overloaded. I am very unhappy and hit burnout. And I snapped at my husband last night. I work full-time, and work has been very busy so im working late a lot. Im also in grad school. I also have a toddler that has become VERY clingy with me. My husband works shorter days but commutes, so he usually gets home after me by an hour or more. When he gets home, he usually heads to the restroom for at least 30 mins when he gets home. And now my toddler doesnt want anything to do with him. So im doing all the toddler duties until bed. I dont get 5 mins to myself. Not for almost 2 years. I finally hit my wall. I have also, somehow, become my MILs medical ride service and she somehow has an appt every week, it seems?! Shes not sick!! My husband was complaining that he needs to change routine to fit in a workout sometimes, and I lost it. I have been BEGGING for 5 mins to myself for months. I have been telling him how im not good, im going to burn out for months. And between his attitude and him complaining (which really got me b/c he blames me for not being able to work out?! Saying I need help when he gets home so he just cant workout now) I just lost it completely. I told him how unfair my life has become and I have the entire mental and emotional load and it is just not fair. He got mad at me and said "hes trying" when hes literally not trying at all. What do I do?? No one is taking the load from me! And im done and dont know what to do now.
I do not like this version of me.

Is this clever or cruel?

My husband and i were talking and with social media and the internet in general being a terrifying dumpster fire, we are trying to figure out the best way to keep our son safe while still teaching him how to safely be online and moderation.

We landed on the idea of giving him the 90's kid treatment. A computer in the living room for us to keep an eye on what hes doing online, and once we feel hes mature enough to hang with friends without adult supervision he gets a flip phone. When we feel he is responsible enough and he earns and saves up the money for the physical phone, case, and screen cover, then we will be happy to take him to get a smart phone.

I thought this was air tight, but now my brother says its cruel to give a kid a flip phone, and besides he can just use his friends phones at school.

My husband and i remember a time before the internet, and we remember having complete access to something no one understood yet. We saw unspeakable things and are always battling with the urge to put the phone and social media down. I dont want that for my son, especially with his brain so vulnerable still.

AITA?

This isn't a major issue, just wondering if I'm being a bit of an asshole.

• I do shift work, 5 out of 7 days, full-time.
• My partner works from home (mostly, sometimes he goes into the office) M-F, full-time.

Anyway, whenever I have a day off during the week he gets in his feelings when I make myself food (breakfast and lunch) but not him. His reason is he's working, I'm not - Which is fair but I've asked him how many times on a weekend has he gotten up, on his day off and made me breakfast and a lunch to take with me to work? You guessed it, 0.

So basically, just because I'm at home I don't think the responsibility to feed him should automatically fall on me when he manages to feed himself just fine while I'm at work.

Nursery funding

My child turned 9 months last week. I applied for government funded hours nearly 2 months ago and so well within the required timeframe for the April term, however upon receiving my first invoice without the funding applied and having questioned this, I have now been informed that the stretched funding doesn’t start until 4th May.

Has anyone else been told it won’t start until May?

The government site states it should start from April 1st, and so I intentionally set my nursery start and return to work as the start of April for that reason, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to afford the nursery on my sole income without the funding

Partner no longer wants baby #2

Before our son was born we originally both wanted minimum 2 kids but we were hoping for 3-4. My partner found the birth traumatic to watch and also struggled a lot with the newborn/baby stage. He no longer wants to have any more children and it’s completely breaking my heart. I need another baby. We’ve spoken about it a lot and the options. He said he wasn’t COMPLETELY closed off to it so I asked him to try and work through his feelings and reconsider his decision. He eventually said he definitely doesn’t want another. I know that I will always want one and my feelings will never change. Do we have to break up or does anyone know anything else I can do to help change his mind? Has anyone else’s partner said this and then changed their mind? I don’t want to break up because I adore him and our life together and I’d hate to split up our family for “selfish” reasons and make my son miss out on having both of us together but I just don’t know what to do
