Are blackout curtains worth it?

My twins struggle with daytime naps and are wide awake as soon as sun rises.. so blackout curtains help them sleep better? I want to know mums experiences with it.. I have checked there are two types one is extreme blackout like complete darkness during the day and one is dark but leaves some light coming around it.. which ones good?

Get the complete darkness ones and one of those color changing wifi bulbs for the lamp. At nap time/bed time switch the light to red and dim it so it's not super bright, the brain registers the red light as dusk it helps them fall asleep easier. It works on my 4 year old and 1 year old. Good luck 🤗🤗

Yes they are 100% worth it. I have the complete darkness 100% can’t see through curtains and they are amazing. I am going to buy an automatic curtain opener because I find I sleep longer and over sleep most days when they are shut completely.

My LO sleeps until I open them. Then it’s a matter of time before he wakes up

that’s good to know.. will try it then.. do you know how to block off noises.. I heard white machine etc but also heard they are not good for the brain

that’s good thank you!

My girl is sensitive to light. If there is a little bit - she won’t sleep 😂 so it’s saved us massively.

Continuous white noise isn’t recommended but using something that has variations is better e.g. rain sounds. We have a machine that has a few different ones. We use the rain or the washing machine one as they have variations and aren’t just one continuous noise.

Also download a decibel app on your phone and check where bub sleeps so it’s a good volume.

We live in a 300 year old house on a busy road also with 2 cats so we need something on to she will never sleep 😂

I got the blackout ones in pink (not total blackout) and the daylight gives the room a natural red light but still dark so the it looks like there is a red light on

I’ve tried blocking the light from the room and my son was up at the same time regardless. But I’m still going to invest in some black out curtains at this point because its worth it for the chance it helps even sometimes.

My twins have a black out blind I find they sleep well during the day they definately worth it however my little girl still wakes in the night

Yes it makes a huge difference. I take them when we go on holiday too. I think the main reason my kids struggle to nap at their nursery is that they don’t blackout the sleeping area.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡
