For those of you exclusively breastfeeding, who's little ones only feed for short duration of like 10- 15 minutes usually at a time, do you then consider that to be enough for them or would you always offer the other boob and hope they drink the same again on the other side? I'm always worrier he's not getting enough as it's such a short amount of time compared to what the midwives say (I was told 'normal' is 30 min to 1 hr on one boob)

hiya, the feeding team at hospital told me that a feed can last between 10 to 40min, once the baby gets the hang of it it then it decreases in time as baby is more efficient so I would not worry if he’s feeding for shorter time 👶💪

Mine feeds for 10-15 mins on average from one boob, I offer the other but he’s always done after that

I was told 10-40 mins was normal too

My LO sometimes only feeds 5 mins, max 15, he’s a snacker but very efficient 😂 he’s exclusively breastfed and gained weight since he was born! First 5 days breastfed babies are supposed to drop weight but he gained 5oz. Midwife said as long as they seem content, feed regularly, and are gaining weight then it’s fine

I’ve been told by the feeding team anything between 5-40 mins is normal. My little will do the odd 15 min feed, sometimes longer, but most feeds (especially daytime) are 5-10 mins. I always offer the other boob, sometimes he takes it, often he’s not interested. Nappies are normal, weight gain is normal, he’s happy…he’s just a very efficient feeder! Only need to worry if nappies aren’t normal and he’s losing weight.

If they feed for 5/10min each time. Then how long until the next feed ?

my son feeds small amounts but he does it regularly, sometimes he feeds again within an hour sometimes more. I exclusively breastfeed but I do express milk so when I offer the bottle he drinks all of it which is about 150-200ml

My baby only fed 5-8 minutes maximum every feed :/ I was worried to be honest and the gp said it was strange but she was gaining weight rapidly, she’s now bottle fed mainly with expressed milk as I needed to see how much she’s getting as the gp recommended it and she started not to latch, but I’m pretty sure 10-15 mins is absolutely fine! Xxx

Mine usually does 10/15 mins, I burp quickly then put him back on same boob and usually does another 10. He stops due to wind x

As long as you’ve got wet/dirty nappies then don’t worry! My son feeds for 5-10 mins most of the time but they say he’s just effective at getting what he needs. 😊
