Always crying

My LG is going through a phase of crying a lot, being whingy etc. it doesn’t help that during the winter months, she’s never not unwell. And that’s actually not an exaggeration. She has a few days respite between bugs sometimes but most of the times she catches bugs back to back until the spring.

Anywhooo, it’s hard not to say “don’t be sad” or “please don’t cry.” I know these are phrases that shouldn’t be used but I don’t know what else to say. She’s just always sad all the time and I don’t know how to react to it. If I ignore it, it seems mean and she gets worse but if I pander to her it makes her worse. I even say things like “let’s just have a bit of a break from crying” or “wow you’ve cried a lot today, maybe let’s stop.” I just can’t deal with all this crying, I want to throw myself down a long flight of stairs to just not have to hear it anymore :(

Address the feeling and as to why she might be feeling sad. Then offer your understanding and agree. Then move on to what you can do to change the feeling to a more positive. I personally to this along side re directing asap

This could be from not wanting a certain plate makes her sad- which one would you like and use your words to tell mummy you'd like the peppa one because it is your favourite. As an example

Could have written this myself 🙈 I wish I had advice but I don’t 😢 I try addressing what’s making my daughter sad but it makes her cry more 🙈 she has happy spells and those are beautiful but when she’s in a grump oh my lord do I know about it!

I could have written this too.. and it’s so hard because I don’t like whining and crying at all… When I was little, I wasn’t like that but my brother was. I suppose all kids are different but I do wish I could help my lb with it. We are working on understanding feelings and exploring why he feels sad or frustrated and validating his feelings but so far it’s not working..keep at it and we’ll get there one day xx

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡
